Bio

Although the band now consists of three guitarists, a vocalist and a bassist, Terrence Wales and Michael Lettley was replaced and the line-up runs as follow:

Johnny Simpson – Vocalist and guitarist
Theuns Van Dyk – Lead guitarist
Dylan Finnemore – Rhythm Guitarist
Gerhardt Van Aswegen – Drums
Jaco Botha - Bassist

The band name was replaced because of existing bands with similar names. They decided that the launch of the new album would be ideal for making a new start with their new members and their new sound. The bands biggest influence came from the 90’s Seattle Grunge sound to which they added a progressed modernized and fresh essence.

Johnny Simpson is a content man. As the front man of More Messiah he found his inspiration and meaning in the world through music. As a Bloemfontein based band with their leading post-grunge sound bringing new flavour to the world, Rock and his fellow band members – drummer Gerhardt van Aswegen lead guitarist Theuns van Dyk bassist Jaco Botha and rhythm guitarist Dylan Finnemore – have eventually created the liberating debut album called “The Ragdoll Effect “
From a collection of 20 songs Johnny brought to the table, the producer Henry Davis along with Johnny evolved 10 songs into explosive guitar harmonies. The unique sound driven from More Messiah comes from the legendary Seattle Sound combined with 21st Century music intelligence and resulted in no fewer but 3 singles namely;Falling, Sickhead and Goes on forever.
They started the recording of ‘The Ragdoll Effect’ in June 2008 and have been involved with several local gigs throughout South Africa since then. They have only had good reviews and were approached as being band of the month in July 2009 through the local music paper ‘Jip’ and their debut album has been reviewed as a unique inspiration sound through several magazines; Neptune, One Small Seed and BPM.

As for the ultimate goals for More Messiah as a band, they want to create music for the sake of making music to reach those souls who seek to become content in their selves and in the world. Not only do they see themselves as a band standing for freedom of expression but they strive to inspire listeners to live a free life. They all Worked really hard on this album and it was an amazing experience through which they wall grew a lot.
