"POPMTL Highlight: DIANA + Emperess Of + Mori @ Sala Rossa"

Taking the stage first at around 9:00 PM were locals MORI. The three-piece, whose members consist of ex-Parlovr‘s Alex Cooper, ex-The Hoof & The Heel‘s Ohara Hale, and Digital Bird Studios‘ Martin Horn, performed a lively set of steamy songs (yes, really). With Hale at the helm, dancing and singing like it was nobody’s business, the set had a touch of genuineness that was the utmost refreshing. - The Main Montreal

"Pile of Best Albums: Mori – Mori"

Okay, it’s been a little while since we’ve had a genuine, can’t-put-it-down, hooky-beyond-hooky earworm pop record arriving out of nowhere. Montreal’s Mori quietly released their debut 3-track EP last October but we didn’t find it until 2014. Info is scarce, but we THINK that Mori is a three-piece band that formed in March of last year.
So let’s talk about this ridiculously good mini-collection of songs. Every track feels like something you’ve heard a million times on pop radio, sounding immediately familiar, and daresay comforting. Indie Fleetwood Mac vibes. It’s extremely rare for a band’s songwriting and arrangements to be this tight on arrival. Mori is probably a secret supergroup of talented veteran musicians masquerading as underground unknowns. Holy crap.

This EP is available for free. Here, take it from their Bandcamp! - Silent Shout

Often Mori is quick to anger (Alex), but usually recovers just as fast (Ohara), regretting later things said when upset (Ohara). Mori loves games and sports as a matter of fact (maybe just Ohara), and would usually rather play than work (Martin and Alex for sure). Mori is a very affectionate person but hates to be tied down (true for all). Others may regard Mori as shy or eccentric, but those who know Mori well are aware of the intense loyalty toward friends ( all ).Mori has a logical, detached, objective view of most things (Martin once wrote a song called 'I Am A Pragmatist'). Everything done is reduced to an exercise in logic and reason (again, Martin). Mori tends to release emotional energies only very reluctantly (Martin). This is partly due to the fear of what horrible calamity might occur should they be released (no, that's not why, actually) -- Mori's emotions are terribly complicated and intense (Ohara - wait til you meet her!). Mori tries not to repress these energies entirely, however, or Mori will succumb to negative and destructive forms of compulsive behavior (definitely Alex, especially this last part).
