"«Брешь» (“Bresh”) – Album 2017"

“This fall 2018 debut studio album «Брешь» (“Bresh”) only strengthened my conviction that MorkvoCvet is the number 1 band on the Belarusian scene. In my personal charts this album is high above first place. About all components - musical, poetic and performing - I can speak and write only with superlatives.” - Gennady Shostak, music critic

"We are not trying to set style limits"

“This is unique not only in Eastern Europe, but throughout the world. If this is art rock, then it is completely different than their predecessors - King Crimson, Yes, or ELP. Hymnals, folklore, classical traditions, jazz, and rock are getting along and combining in this music ... ” - "Наш Неформат" (“Nash Neformat”) journal

Bio

Manic and suspenseful, completely wild at times yet intricately composed, MorkvoCvet offers theatrically brilliant contrast with every turn.

While other bands may say they are ‘hard to describe,’ MorkvoCvet seems to have taken ‘indescribable’ as a genre, applying phenomenal guitar work and creativity to span progressive and art rock, traditional folk and classical elements, acid jazz and even the occasional hip-hop and metal passage.

Emerging from the Belarus National Conservatory in Minsk, Yauhen Belanovich and Pavel Ryzhkou started the avant-garde dual guitar & vocals band in 2016, building a following playing apartments, clubs, competitions and festivals, and then releasing their critically acclaimed debut album “Bresh” in 2018.

Now with the addition of bassist Dmitry Voronin and drummer Alexey Vodnev, MorkvoCvet has become a full rock 4-piece. Their lyrics are often in Belarusian with a few Russian and English phrases, but almost anyone can pick up the fun energy and biting edge of Yauhen and Pavel’s lyrics atop an ever-shifting but catchy musical landscape. Music journalist Marina Vorobei called a recent performance “audio theater” which sounds about right.

Born to play live, MorkvoCvet’s uncompromising musicianship, originality and energy is carrying the Belarus music scene beyond borders, and winning over fans and writers throughout Eastern Europe. So why not the rest of the world?

- Oleg Garkusha, famous St. Petersburg musician

“This group’s music is not improvisational, it is intensely compositional, but full of delightful

surprises for listeners. If you call it Russian rock, then they are pushing that genre into the

future, and if you call it Avant-Garde, then they are a digestible kind.”
