Bio

In 2006 Morningstar will release Fight Off Your Demons, the result of neary a year of constant refinement and creation of the music they love most.

The album titled was inspired by Singer and Songwriter Christopher Markou's diagnosis and subsequent treatment for Bipolar Depression, a mood disorder that affects the emotional balance in the mind.

"It certainly wasnt easy, and it still isnt easy. But there comes a time when you simply have to stop yourself and say enough is enough, im not going to allow myself to be ruled by this any longer." says Markou about his experience.

The album is full of songs detailing all the experiences that someone suffering from mental illness goes through. From the fear of losing grip on life, denial, suicide, love, bleakness and tragedy. The album is indeed dark and lyrically complex, but beneath its morbidity is a theme of hope, that even in the darkest times, the darkness you are in is only due to the inability to see light, not its abscence.

"I wanted to do something out of the ordinary, its easy to write an album about common themes and just get by on that. I wanted to challenge myself artistically and intellectually to write about my experiences in musical form, and make the record a diary of sorts, or a message to others in a similar position. Everyone has moments of depression in their lives, so no one is unable to relate"

The album is a lush tapestry of sounds and textures, from the minimalist opening of fluttering sounds during "Of Friends of Flatters" to the full on dance-rock gem of "De La Mer" to the tender piano track "My Lady By The Sea".
