Bio
MORRIS CAN FLY rocks like there's no tomorrow, yet they roll like the greats of yesterday. This power trio -- Steve Winters (guitar/vocals), Marc Winters (drums) and Barry Lober (bass/vocals) -- embodies everything that is raw, direct and gutsy about rock music.
Morris Can Fly are steeped in the classics, yet they sound nothing like them. “We sound like we’re from Detroit, about 1975,” says Barry. “But we jam like we’re from the future,” chimes in Steve. Even the band name sounds like it got lifted from your favorite superhero comic book. When asked about the origin of the name, Steve blurts out, “If I told you, I’d have to kill you, . . . or, at least, make out with you.”
The trio charted on CMJ with the single “Velvet Jesus” and has received plenty of grass-roots airplay on college and smaller-market radio. The band’s CDs are nationally distributed on sites such as Amazon.com, CDBaby.com and iTunes.com. MCF has sold over 4,000 copies of its first two CDs.
The band has received the prestigious ASCAP PLUS award for the last five years running. The American Society of Composers, Authors & Publishers (ASCAP) gives this award each year to unsigned artists who receive airplay and make significant contributions to their genre of music.
