Mossbreaker is heavily influenced by the post-hardcore/post-punk music movement of the early and mid 90s. Bands like Failure, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Fugazi, Jawbox, Bluetip, Soundgarden, Quicksand, Smashing Pumpkins, Jawbreaker etc.

Although there has been a surge in post-hardcore/post-punk bands in the last couple years there isn't one that sounds quite like Mossbreaker. Many bands have the raw energy that comes so naturally to most rock bands but Mossbreaker also seems to be polished and controlled when the music calls for it giving them a certain listenable quality that very few other bands in this genre posses.

Mossbreaker has had several names and a few line up changes which is to be expected in a fledgling project. It started off with Gabe and Jarred jamming some songs and completely separately, Matt and Jarred jamming some songs. It was Jarred's bright idea to get all 3 of them together. Having played in hardcore and punk bands with one another, playing these songs felt like a natural progression. It was comfortable and exciting and within the first month they had written 6 songs together. They added bassist Nicolas Mizumoto, with whom they wrote 3 more songs and headed into the studio to record.

Unsatisfied with the result and siting creative differences they sought out a new bass player and long time friend to Jarred, Blake Straus. Blake re-recorded the bass tracks and helped write some newer material before leaving the band to pursue other musical endeavors. Trying out three more bassists they landed on Gabe's former band member and close friend, Daniel "Q" Quintana.

Q solidifies Mossbreaker's lineup and have written some of their best material since his addition to the band. They recently finished work on their 2nd EP and are getting ready to gig rigorously and tour.
