"Mother Grove Rocks"

Some bands just have what it takes to make the grade and attract a following. You must have commitment, dedication, and a bunch of musicians with the same dream to make recognizable music that breaks the barrier to many different generations. Mother Grove is one of those bands.
Mother is on their way to the top with great tunes, and fantastic shows covering a wide part of the United States. - Ron Cederlund - MacDhuhaich

"Mother Grove: Kilt Rock in Indianapolis"

Mother Grove, an Indianapolis music group in the genre of celtic rock, brings Ireland to Indiana. They are a self proclaimed “kilt rock” group: too complex for Celtic rock, Mother Grove (or, as their fans call them, Mogro) is its own breed of band. The group plays bar room stompers, rousing chanters, and passionate tear jerkers, all infused with complex harmonies and modern spins on a classic style of music. The compelling duet of Sprauer and Adams intertwines on many songs with the traditional pennywhistles, fiddles, and bagpipes of Celtic music to create a unique sound that you won’t find anywhere else. Mother Grove has a long history of successful showmanship and stellar performances. - FunCityFinder.com

"Indy's Top Bands"

Mother Grove
They are a nice rock mix of the Bodines and the Chieftains with the same sensibility of authentic fusion as the Drovers. It doesn"t take a Celtic music enthusiast to get into their music. They incorporate modern pop influences and stylings to make their original "kilt rock" tangible to any listener.

"Mother Grove @ The Focal Point"

Mother Grove! Mother Grove’s crown jewel is their live shows. High energy, fun and void of pretension, a Mother Grove show is like an intimate house concert turned up to 11. You’ll see them smiling, jumping, dancing and laughing on and off stage. All of which make them very approachable and sought after by pubs, festivals and venues all over the country.

Mother Grove will get you up and dancing jig after jig with their unique blend of well crafted original rock music and rousing rocked up traditional songs. But nestled between the hard hitting bagpipes, drums, bass and guitar and the sweet, rocking fiddle, penny whistle and mandolin are creative original rock songs, with lyrics that will leave you singing along, brushing back a tear or even scratching your head.

- The Focal Point

"Mother Grove comes to St Louis"

The Pogues started it, Flogging Molly took it to the mainstream, and now there are bands all over the place combining punk rock energy with the verities of traditional Irish and Scottish music. Mother Grove, from Indianapolis, deserves consideration with the best of them. Singer/guitarist Brad Sprauer has a way with lyrics and melody that nods to the Celtic influences without bowing down to them. Fiddler Laura Adams and bagpipe/pennywhistle player John Holland provide all the instrumental colors of the Isles, while bassist Jim Farley and drummer Ron Fife kick out the jams in the rhythm section. - St Louis Post-Dispatch

Bio

Mother Grove has enjoyed great success and critical acclaim with their self-proclaimed "Kilt Rock" sounds.

Influenced by such Celtic Rock bands as Flogging Molly, Seven Nations, Bad Haggis and The Pogues, as well as classic, alternative and progressive Rock artists such as Dave Matthews Band, Jethro Tull, and Ben Harper, Mother Grove blends original Rock music with traditional and not-so traditional Celtic instruments to create a sound that is unique and fresh yet timeless.

Mother Grove truly shines live; they interact with the crowd to such an extent, that by the end of the evening you feel as if you are a part of the band. With unstoppable grooves and multi-layered rhythms, the music dares you stand still.

Lyrically, Mother Grove draws from many sources; historical, traditional, spiritual and personal. The words are then entwined with memorable melodies and beautiful harmonies. The band stops short of calling themselves a "Celtic Rock" band, for they are much, much more.
