Mother's Own

There is nothing better than that which is pure. A taste of music freshly infused from the strangest, yet genuine of flavours.

Formed from students in a Music course in early 2008. Mother's Own is a Sydney based five piece folk-rock band with a deep rooted love for interesting melodies, textures and pop sensibilities

Laying their foundations with Sam Newton's rich folk songwriting and Kelly Walshe's hauntingly sweet vocals, they went about creating a vast bodied sound with hooks leaving you wanting more. This involved combining folk with more experimental and psychedelic sounds using the eclectic electric guitar sounds of Jack Perry and the Wooten inspired slaptronicism courtesy of Alex King. The focus was more on adding texture and timbre than riffs and powerchords.

Finally, with the solid backing of drummer Barney Hudswell, Mother’s Own have begun to create a sound that reflects the members of the band without compromising on an overall folk rock sound and feel.
