Bio

New York based band Motion Picture is a power-pop foursome that showcases soaring guitar hooks, pounding drums, laconic vocals, and sweet harmonies. Best described as a cross between Blur and Elvis Costello with the vigor and drive of the Pixies, Motion Picture charms audiences with its schizophrenic-to-epic songwriting while pumping out a wall of guitars sound.

Motion Picture emerged from New York in 2004 with their debut album Anhedonia in hand, and, shortly after, was accepted to perform at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas as part of the New York International Music Festival showcase. Following the festival, the band landed a show at the prestigious Knitting Factory in LA (almost sharing the bill with Beck who played there a couple days earlier), while Anhedonia began charting on college radio stations around the country (resting on various charts next to the likes of Modest Mouse and The Kicks).

After a year of supporting the record, Motion Picture took time off to rehearse and record new songs, which they are currently performing on the New York City circuit. In addition, they have almost completed Analog Down, their follow up EP to Anhedonia. The EP is an ambitious collection of songs recorded in Michael’s apartment on Logic 6, with everything running through a Rodes K2 mic (except the drums). The record was produced by the band and engineered by Michael, with a release date of December 2005.
