BandRockSinger/Songwriter

MOTP is a teen rock band with an adult sound. Performing together for 5+ years, we will blow you away with our unique and sophisticated original music & seasoned musical chops. Originals range from folk to hard rock, & are melodic with meaningful lyrics, strong lead vocals and beautiful harmonies.

Biography

MOTP formed as a result of an elementary school talent show where Brian D'Addario (Guitar), Thomas Murphy (Bass), Danny Ayala (Keyboards), and Michael D'Addario (Drums) came together to perform. Brian and Michael have mixed their musical endeavors over the years with careers in theatre and film. Brian's exceptional voice and ease onstage led to three years in principal roles on Broadway in Les Miserables and Disney Theatrical's The Little Mermaid. Michael also worked on Broadway and has had leading roles in television and feature films (People Like Us, Sinister). However, music is their true passion and the focus of their lives. Thomas and Danny are exceptional players, and by now, seasoned performers as well.

One of the unique qualities of MOTP is the depth of their knowledge, appreciation, and roots in classic rock. They are students of the genre and the influence of past masters can be heard in the original material. Though Brian is the main songwriter, other band members have recently begun to contribute. The main influences come from 60s rock (Beatles, The Who, Beach Boys, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Velvet Underground) and folk (Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, The Band) & more contemporary artists from the nineties on (MGMT, The Pixies, Nirvana, Radiohead, RHCP, The Killers, PATD, MCR, The White Stripes).

As a young band, MOTP has been recognized for its excellence during several tri-state competitions and online by the alt rock band My Chemical Romance. MCR bassist Mikey Way blogged about the group when they first started their youtube back in 2009. He had caught wind of their performance of an MCR song via twitter and liked it so much, he put the link on the official MCR website. A year later, MOTP won the MCR youtube cover contest with their high energy performance of "Dead," and were awarded a new guitar signed by MCR band members.

MOTP has performed in venues across the tri-state area of NY, CT, and NJ. Some of the highlights: (NYC) Webster Hall, Slate, Don Hill's, National Underground, Queens Museum of Art; (Long Island) Dublin Pub, Mulcahy's, Town of Oyster Bay Children's Festival, Hicksville Street Fairs, (NJ) Mexicali Live, Tinton Falls Mall; (CT) Ridgefield Playhouse, Fiddler's Green.

All members of MOTP contribute vocals, both leads and backing, on recordings and during live performances. Brian acts as producer and engineer; the band has become proficient at producing and engineering their own material. Their dedication to the music and each other as bandmates is the main passion of this group of young musicians.

INTRODUCTION TO A PLACE

Written By: Brian D'Addario

Introduction to a place where the rainbows end
The home of the creature you call your friend
A casual acquaintance who in addition to his patience
Calls you at night

Introduction to the place where the ships collide
An imagined disgrace to those hypnotized
The self-reflecting vagrant who was thought to have been ancient
Calls you at night

He exists as he hisses at you to stop
You resist as he kisses your heart in a knot
And you slowly turn gray, as he scampers away
Hoping he doesn’t get caught.

Introducing my buddy, the all-for-one
He’s a recovering workaholic, he got too much done
He has no more patience for having no patience
And wants to have more fun

My angel is one who won’t notice me
Her name wasn’t always just Annemarie
She finds me elusive and once Anne is through with
The soda pop, walks out the door

I could tell she was upset cause the look of regret
Never left her face and it hasn’t left yet
And she pressed self-destruct so she could look up
And see who she was anymore.

Introduction to the place of the left behind
A place that’s been laced with incesticide
Reporting for duty, a hundred year-old beauty
Who’s never been loved in her life

I guess it’s the game of continual pain
That’s the source of regret and the source of refrain
And from one to another, we all love each other
When it’s someone who can even that score.

LIE LOW

Written By: Brian D'Addario

I’ll slowly drift in front of you just slightly off of course
Forget the weight on top of you, no interest in the source
The right is wrong or reminiscent of an age of carelessness
Your man who’s gone is reminiscent of an age of carelessness

I think I’ll lie low, I think that low I’ll lie
I think I’ll lie low, I think that low I’ll lie
I think I’ll lie low, I think that low I’ll lie

Because I think I know I’ll lie low
Because I think I know I’ll lie low

Awake is almost meaningless, when taking away sleep
The way you love is meaningless when my love you won’t keep
Matter of time before you lie under the sheets with me
I just hope that before you die, you feel the symphony

I think I’ll lie low, I think that low I’ll lie
I think I’ll lie low, I think that low I’ll lie
I think I’ll lie low, I think that low I’ll lie

Break

I think I’ll lie low, I think that low I’ll lie
I think I’ll lie low, I think that low I’ll lie
I think I’ll lie low, I think that low I’ll lie

Because I think I know I’ll lie low
Because I die I know I won’t go

SHE FOUND ME THERE

Written By: MOTP

SHE FOUND ME THERE, STRUNG OUT ON A DARE
HAPPINESS TO SPARE, PLEASE TAKE ME SOMEWHERE

OH WE ARE WE ARE SO HOPELESS
OH WE ARE WE ARE SO HOPELESS

I FOUND MYSELF INSIDE YOU, RELEARNING THINGS THAT I KNEW
BEFORE THE WORLD TOOK FROM ME, MY REALITY
I FOUND MYSELF INSIDE YOU, RELEARNING THINGS THAT I KNEW
BEFORE THE WORLD TOOK FROM ME, MY REALITY

SHE INTERVENES, TAKES OVER MY DREAMS
WHILE I LAY IT SEEMS
CIRCULATING SCENES

OH WE ARE WE ARE SO HOPELESS, OH WE ARE WE ARE SO HOPELESS

I FOUND MYSELF INSIDE YOU RELEARNING THINGS THAT I KNEW
BEFORE THE WORLD TOOK FROM ME MY REALITY

I FOUND MYSELF INSIDE YOU, I FOUND MYSELF INSIDE YOU

HURRICANE

Written By: Brian D'Addario

YOU MAY FIND
THAT LOVE IS BLIND
THAT IS, IF SIGHT
WAS ON YOUR MIND
QUIET YOUTH SETS THE FRAME
YOUR LIFE IS A HURRICANE

STICKS AND STONES
MAKE ME SMART
BUT WORDS LIKE HATE
BREAK MY HEEART
ALL THESE THOUGHTS IN MY BRAIN
YOUR LIFE IS A HURRICANE HURRICANE

IS A HURRICANE HURRICANE
IS A HURRICANE
IS A HURRICANE HURRICANE

TRIED SO HARD TO KEEP IT ALL TOGETHER
REALIZING FAST THAT YOU WERE NEVER
BRAVE

FAKE SAD EYES IN DISGUISE
FOR LOST LOVE WHO’S ABOVE
NO ONE KNOWS WHO’S TO BLAME
YOUR LIFE IS A HURRICANE HURRICANE
IS A HURRICANE HURRICANE
IS A HURRICANE HURRICANE
IS A HURRICANE HURRICANE
IS A HURRICANE HURRICANE
