Mountain Tay

Need some real Toe Tappin' Irish Music for your event? If you do, then here is the group for you. With vocals from decendants of Irish Settlers to Canada, combined with the instrumentation of banjo, guitar, bass, harmonica, fiddle, mandolin and pennie whistle, you're in for a great time.

Mountain Tay is one of the busiest Irish/Celtic bands in the area, particularly near and on St. Patrick's Day. The best way to describe this band is to tell you about each of the group members. So, lets get at it:

Howard Hayes:
Howard, an inductee into the Ottawa Valley Country Music Hall of Fame, is well known for his country music, his Irish music, as well as his recording studio, Paugan Music Studio. His ancestors came from County Cork in Ireland and settled in the Township of Low in the beautiful Gatineau Hills. They brought with them many traditional Irish sayings, as well as, many good Irish songs and fiddle tunes which were passed on to Howard.

Andy Clark:
Andy has spent extensive time as a traveling road musician, gaining a wealth of experience on stage, radio and TV. Andy, a very important element to the group, provides excellent harmony vocals and keeps the band together, and in time, with his extensive bass playing experience.

Cal Cummings:
For years Cal toured with the outstanding Irish group "The Jug O'Punch" and certainly tried to live up to the name. Most people are trying to decide whether Cal is a Scottsman or an Irishman as he has both bloods in him - we just call him the "Halfbreed". He brings a great deal of experience and background in both the Irish and Scottish music fields with his vocals and banjo playing.

Gord McAlpine:
No question about Gord - He is Pure Irish. His ancestors came from County Mayo and if you talk to Gord you will notice he still has the Irish Accent. Gord in an outstanding musician, mesmerizing the audience with his abilities on the Pennie Whistle and Harmonica.
