"MOUNT PERU CD Review"

Versatile, complete, far-reaching and thoroughly satisfying: That’s My Sweetheart the Destroyer, Mount Peru’s debut, in a nutshell. It’s not every day you pick up an album and picture the band in question rocking the stages of a dive bar or a stadium in equal measure, but Mount Peru demonstrates that intimacy and grandeur can be achieved with a simple understanding of give and take.

Their ability to capitalize on numerous genres serves them well, too. The twang resonating in “Down in the Graveyard” and “I Ain’t Gonna Kill Myself No More” undoubtedly throws them into the Americanalt mix. “St. Cloud” and “(Everybody Loves the) Hospital” echo Bob Seger and the Rolling Stones, while the handclaps of “Summer Jinx” feel right at home on any radio. Destroyer stands out amongst other debut efforts as a confident product of musical exploration, and we can’t wait to hear more. - http://digboston.com/

"Boston Band Crush: Show Crush: Mount Peru / Mr. Sister / Audrey Ryan Band / Clara Bones / Poison Control Center at TT’s tomorrow"

Mount Peru show us what sort of magic can happen when spaced out psychedelia meets down to earth Americana. They somehow manage to combine these two divergent concepts into one powerful idea without allowing anything to sound out of place or awkwardly tacked on. They’ll be taking the stage at TT’s on Thursday night, headlining a fantastic lineup that came together at the last minute after a cancellation freed up the night. This show is better anyway, so DVR 30 Rock and get out to support local music. - Boston Band Crush

Bio

To hell with geography.

Mount Peru, the band that Bostonbandcrush.com cites as “pioneers of Cosmic Americana”, mix extraterrestrial elements to forge torch songs from Mars, dust bowl ballads from Jupiter, and powerpop from Pluto. For all of the familiar signifiers, it's clear after the first few notes that this earth is not their home. Their narcotic hymns reverberate through the atmosphere like signals sent through space hoping to make contact - a pirate transmission from a far away radio, on some other heartbroken planet just like this one.

Mount Peru’s debut album, “My Sweetheart the Destroyer” is now available for download at http://mountperu.bandcamp.com/releases
