"“This was the first single, and with its slightly rock-tinged electronic sound I’m somewhat reminded of Dirty Vegas or Alpinestars, both of whom are favourites of mine. (on the single ‘Gravity’)”"

We’ve sadly reached the last of our first batch of unsigned artists. The last of our artists for now is Movement Ten. A duo consisting of Shadowless Man and Sweet Chap (or, if you prefer, Tristan and Mike), they’re a matter of weeks into having released their debut eponymous album. Completely self-recorded, self-engineered and self-produced, it also comes with some wonderful sleeve artwork.
They describe their music as blending different cityscapes – Düsseldorf, London, Brighton, and Detroit – and they quote influences as varied as Conny Plank, SebastiAn, Justice and Roni Size. As usual I asked them to pick a mini-demo of three tracks to share with you lot, and all three are from the album Movement Ten. First up is Gravity.
This was the first single, and with its slightly rock-tinged electronic sound I’m somewhat reminded of Dirty Vegas or Alpinestars, both of whom are favourites of mine.
Next up is Monochrome. This gentle piece of almost-drum-and-bass is also unusual with its acoustic lead line. It stands alone slightly on the album, but as a taster for the kind of variety these guys can achieve it’s great.
Finally there's Monochrome.
With one of the biggest kick drums on the planet and excellent vocals, it’s got a bit of a disco vibe going on, and is really rather good.

Movement Ten were actually kind enough to send their whole album over, and so I can assure you that the trend of great vocals and lively backing continues. I can also heartily recommend Machine Girl and One Hundred Percent as well as the samples above. - Music For Stowaways

"“A great mixture of electronics and traditional instruments. From synthpop to brit-pop, I can hear a bunch of different styles and influences. The future’s looking bright for these fellows.”"

UK duo Movement Ten are getting ready to release their self titled debut album November 5th. They sent along some of their tracks for us to review and am I am digging their sound. A great mixture of electronics and traditional instruments. From synthpop to brit-pop, I can hear a bunch of different styles and influences. The future's looking bright for these fellows. Check out their soundcloud player below with four tracks from the upcoming album, then be on the lookout for that release come next week. - Off The Radar

"“Movement Ten are one of the most promising newcomers lately discovered of the British Independent-scene.”"

We have here the debut release of a British duo consisting of the music-producer Shadowless Man and vocalist The Sweet Chap. Why they feel the need to hide behind pseudonyms you ask? Well, I really don't know, also their web resources don't offer too much information. However, what counts is the music, and after consuming the self-titled debut of them, I really don't see a reason to hide anything. 'Movement Ten' is a self-produced and self-released 10-tracker, which provides some well-sounding and interesting arranged content to the Electropop-/New Wave-/Alternative-scene. 'Gravity', also released as being the first single out of this album, opens this album and they couldn't have chosen any better one. A catchy song progression with subtle insertions of Electronica- / acoustic-guitar elements and a pure, natural sounding male vocal performance in vein of 'James Blunt meets Synthpop' opens the hearts of the fainted listener. The ongoing tracks are sort of straighter produced: 'Machine Girl' surprises with a robotic sound-effect on the vocals, while 'BWK' celebrates straightness through its pummeling kick drum. One of the best tunes of this overall quite promising album is the Synth-/Futurepop-related 'FTBIA' with its melodic chorus, well-done vocals and its machinated beat-work. Not too much impressed with both following tunes, the marching samples of 'One Hundred Percent' are storming in until the slow Breakbeats starts to lead the scenario. I enjoyed those warm Kraftwerk-ish synthesizer-pads woven into an arpeggio-environment to rule the chorus. 'Monochrome' with its acoustic-guitar undertones is the next one and will represent the bands' third single release after 'Gravity' and 'BWK'. Last track worth a mention is the sugar-sweet album-closer 'Moon Palace', with beautiful male vocals provided in a higher Erasure-like register. Movement Ten are one of the most promising newcomers lately discovered of the British Independent-scene. This album proves a wide taste for musically diversity of the protagonists and leaves enough room for several, similar interesting sounding follow-up releases. Good work, keep it on! - Chain DLK
