Bio

Kolby Drake Jackson aka Mr. Friday, was born in Birmingham, Alabama on January 12th, 1986 and grew up 20 minutes north of Birmingham in the small town of Pinson, Alabama. Mr. Friday incorporates a sense of family, God, and country into his lyrics while combining a unique perspective of partying, humor, a competitive edge, and a free-spirited rebellious lifestyle.
Mr. Friday wrote creatively from childhood and then in middle school, he began turning his writings into lyrics. Influenced by a wide range of music from Fresh Prince, to Lynyrd Skynyrd, Nirvana, Incubus, and Eminem. Mr. Friday's lyrical content related to many genres, while his delivery was clearly hip-hop. At 17, after dropping out of high school, he met young producer Ezra "Roszunn" Williams and began recording hip-hop music with his friend Jerry Whittaker as a duo called “Deuce Royal”. However, due to creative differences, Deuce Royal decided to work as individual artists.
In 2009, he and Ezra "Roszunn" Williams came together once again to join forces in producing a new album called “Versatility”. This album was the beginning of the stage name, “Mr. Friday”, meant to be an ode to a partying lifestyle. In August 2009, after joining Kevin “Akizzle” Lucas, Jerry “Benjamin Jonez” Whittaker, and Billy “Big Grim” Baker, along with others in a performing group under the name Double Trouble Entertainment, Mr. Friday performed in his first sold out show in Trussville, AL at Tipsy’s night club.
Mr. Friday recorded a mixtape called “Propane” in 2010, and performed songs along with “Versatility” throughout the following year. Double Trouble Entertainment performed in 9 venues around Birmingham at close to two dozen shows, most of which came in a summer stretch in 2010. The group collectively opened for acts such as Vera, Afro Man, 17th floor, Azz Iz, and Nappy Roots.
In January of 2012, Mr. Friday moved back to Birmingham, and reunited with Ezra "Roszunn" Williams once again. Mr. Friday is still living in Birmingham, AL, and signed with Everybody Can Jam Entertainment, LLC. The debut album “PARADOX” is set to release this summer.
