Young Afton Meets His Match (Demo Recording 2007)

Written By: B. Michaels

This Gargantuan Wave
Washed away
All things before and after
The evils that caused my
World to sway
What happened in the fields
I saw with my one good eye
The pain, the death and rebirth
That you and all of us
just left behind
This Gargantuan Wave
Washed away
All things before and after
The evils that caused my
World to sway
Oh how solemn is the solitude
In which we set the stage
Of the play that is our lives
And I still stand here amazed
When the water rose up
Over the dividend of time
I made thru the tunnel
To a high hill-side
Sat down and wrote this rhyme
What I proceeded to witness
It shred my mind
And blew the plume from my hat
While I preyed with all my might
For the sun to shine
This Gargantuan Wave
Washed away
All things before and after
The evils that caused my
World to sway
So I stand here now
Fortunate to be alive….

Relaxed Again

Written By: T. Waters, B. Michaels

Show me the ropes
I’ll ride the chain
Till I’m clear-headed and
Until I’m clear-headed and sane
Show me the sun
I’ll breathe its rain
I feel the same twice over
I feel the same
I’d save you from them all
For us to just break down and crawl
Though few souls would feel the same
I can’t relax or even speak your name
Show me the time
(When) I’ll drag my grave
Across an old broke road
Broke road of clay
Show me the river
I’ll ride the waves
Till I’m barefoot and bleeding
Bleeding again
I’d save you from them all
For us to just break down and crawl
Though few souls would feel the same
I can’t relax or even speak your name
Compare me to
A summer rendezvous
On a lake with a vine
Swingin’ out in the blue
Fill me up
With winter’s stint
On a stand in house
Hanging down with just a hint … of you..
Now here I lay
Relaxed again
Till the next time
Next time you invade my brain
For what’s the same
Along your arm
And all the shame
The shame that’s made my day
I’d save you from them all
For us to just break down and crawl
Though few souls would feel the same
I can’t relax or even speak your name

In the Shade

Written By: T. Waters, B. Michaels

It had been a long hot day
Out on the dusty road
I found myself some shade
So I could lighten my load...
With my back to the oak
I felt my chin sink down
Unexplainably a sweat
Spread across my brow
I could hardly contain
That strange feeling comin’ down
Couldn’t help but think
I’s on the wrong side of town
Tips of my fingers
So dry and numb
Never been more frightened
It was past time to be gettin’ on
Tryin’ not to linger
Pulse like a drum
Teeth clinched and tightened
Stuck in the spot I was standin’ on
It had been a long hot day
Out on the dusty road
I found myself some shade
So I could lighten my load...
My suspicions gainin’ truth
When this ol’ boy came ‘round
Seemed upset about the time
And then a shake shot thru the ground
The boy held out his hand
Laid his guitar down
And he seemed to shake a hand
That was nowhere to be found
Tips of my fingers
So dry and numb
Never been more frightened
It was past time to be gettin’ on
Tryin’ not to linger
Pulse like a drum
Teeth clinched and tightened
Stuck in the spot I was standin’ on
It had been a long hot day
Out on the dusty road
I found myself some shade
So I could lighten my load...
Picked his six string up
To head back to town
He turned his eyes to me
Smiled and pointed at the ground
Tips of my fingers
So dry and numb
Never been more frightened
It was past time to be gettin’ on
Tryin’ not to linger
Pulse like a drum
Teeth clinched and tightened
Stuck in the spot I was standin’ on
