"Subtropical Spin: the Rick Bauer Band's Daybreak"

Even if his name doesn't ring a bell, Rick Bauer's towering frame should be easily recognizable to savvy Broward nightlifers. The six-foot-seven Bauer and his band regularly play drinking holes from Himmarshee to Pompano Beach, digging into a massive trick bag for bar-rocking covers and late-night sing-alongs. With Daybreak, Bauer reveals the songwriter simmering beneath the faithful rock renditionist, one as influenced by Tom Petty and the Cars as Radiohead and Faith No More. The band has a strong ear for dynamics and weight: slower numbers like the strummy, coffeeshop pop ballad "Dry" or sultry, horn-and-keys-inflected psyche of "Borrow" get heavy without plodding, while hard-edged stomps like "Shame" and "Pave Me Ground" raise the pulse through nimble changes, not pure volume. The songs employ subtle electronic tweaks that add intrigue; album opener "Eyeliner" is the perfect example -- perhaps the tightest production on the album. For a guy who's an old pro in the live setting, Bauer is also surprisingly facile in the studio. Bauer's knack for tailoring classic-leaning alt-rock tunes unconcerned with market trends is impressive, and the heart he puts into the music is tangible. - the New Times

Bio

Towering the 2-meter mark, Mr the Invisible is a genuine PRESENCE. Physically and vocally distinctive, he has been entertaining audiences in Europe and America, in tiny coffee houses and giant festivals alike, performing over 250 shows per year since the mid 1990s.
Not only a seasoned live musician, Rick Bauer (Mr the Invisible) is a complete studio powerhouse that writes, produces, engineers and programs his material while performing the vocals, guitars, basses, keys and percussion on his tracks. As the founder of Roads to Rome Productions, (a Florida non-profit company) Rick Bauer uses this battery of talent to help produce music for other South Florida artists with a spiritual and socially conscious message and to develop public service announcements for social action groups.
Enjoying the freedom that independence offers the artist, Mr the Invisible offers up material that recalls often forgotten priorities in songwriting...melody, harmony, a colorful progression, an insightful lyric, and an infectious cadence. The retro, and sometimes melancholic and introspective sound, takes root in the inspired singer/songwriter tradition and finds shape in a modern production approach that seemlessly blends the organic and synthetic.
Seething with a vocal flair part Bowie, part Weiland at times reminiscent of Cornell or Gahan, this seasoned singer/songwriter offers a craft of dynamic and eclectic productions...intelligent and honest.
