Bio

Genre: R&B/Soul
Origin: Houston, TX
Solo Artist: Mr. VSAX (Soprano & Alto Saxophones)

Mr. VSAX (ASCAP) first gained notoriety on youtube (youtube.com/vicoyedeji) when he was one of the very first sax players to play a cover song on the sax in 2007 ("kiss kiss" from Chris Brown), which now has more than 12,000 views to date. After playing in various concerts, shows and artists like Kim Manning ("Peaches" from VH1's Flavor of Love) & Alvin Slaughter (Major Gospel artist) that have drawn crowds of 10,000 people and a sax player in a band, Mr. VSAX decided to become a professional solo artist in 2008.

Mr. VSAX was born Victor Oyedeji in August 28, 1985 in Houston, TX from Nigerian parents Gabriel and Susan Oyedeji. He's started playing the saxophone in the 6th grade, immediately became the top sax player in his grade level, and has played lead sax in churches, his High School jazz band and college jazz bands in Tulsa, OK.

Unlike many solo sax artists, Mr. VSAX's musical inspirations are mostly R&B/Hip Hop/Gospel/Nigerian artists from the 80's and 90's, not typical saxophone players from the past. The only exception is that Mr. VSAX's saxophone inspirations are Najee, Kenny G, Gerald Albright and Mike Phillips. But his inspiring artists while he was growing up were Babyface, Brandy, Teddy Riley, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Usher, A Tribe Called Quest and Amerie, along with various Gospel artists like Kirk Franklin, Tye Tribbett, John P. Kee and Mary Mary.

Concerts from Mr. VSAX are at times said to be "unforgettable", and the music played certainly is not a style of music that one would regularly hear a saxophone player play. His target audiences are the 15-25 year old range, and crowds always look for his upcoming shows!
