Bio

Up until the age of 12, Mr. Wright was influenced by a historical club in Nashville, TN, the infamous New Era Club. Many great acts have left a legacy there, with such artists as BB King, Gary Jenkins (of Silk), and Sandra Wright, just to name a few! Some of his influences include Michael Jackson, Donnell Jones, Al Green and his mother Sandra Wright.

His musical roots are from a line of musical artists on his mother’s side, going back to a famous distant cousin, Peter Chapman Jr. aka Memphis Slim. As well as another cousin Jethrow Bledsoe, back in the dayz with a famous Gospel Group by the name of The Spirit of Memphis Quartet.

Mr. Wright’s first singing experience was in Nashville, TN at Inglewood Baptist church in a choir. In 1989 thru 1991 he gained formal experience and discipline in music by participating in the Maplewood High School Band. From grade school to high school he learned how to play just about every brass instrument, the Trumpet, Trombone, Baritone, French Horn and of course, the Tuba. His ability to hear music was so keen he began to write and manipulate the music for the brass section his senior year. Also in 1989 he was in a rap group called the Posse In Effect (P.I.E. for short). During this time his stage name was Triple D-1, named after a drum machine. He produced and developed the music and beats for the group. During the early rap movement, his motivation for writing slow rhymes came from LL’s “I NEED LOVE” track.

He writes music based on other people as well as his own life journey, and it was through his music he learned of his destination and realizes that he writes and sings to represent the voice of men’s emotions, happiness, strength and determination. It was then he established him self as the real Mr. Wright!!

He’s a lil bit of Hip Hop, Old school R & B, Blues and Hype all in one

Simply, He just wants to rock da house!
