Ms.Ortega

Ms. Ortega began her professional career in 1995 as a Music Theory teacher after graduation from Amadeo Roldan Provincial Conservatory of Music in Havana, Cuba. In 2000, she joined the National Choir of Cuba and Clave Mixta, a traditional Cuban music band. In 2002, she moved to Toronto and joined Palestrina Choir. She holds a B.A. from U of T Faculty of Music and a B. Ed from OISE. She began her solo career in 2014 as a lead vocal of her own band. She showcases all her original work with influences from Nina Simone, and Concha Buika. The versatility of her work fits the category of world music since she mixes Latin, Flamenco, Pop, and other genres. In 2014, her song Apuesto al Amor was awarded Song of the Week at CHHA 1610 AM Radio Vocees Latinas. She has done two solo concerts in Toronto "La Decision" at Danzon Studio, and "Amor" at Small World Music Centre. In 2016, she was invited to perform two of her original songs at Koerner Hall In Celebration of Cultures Day. In summer 2017, she started Trovabeats, a project with the mission of offering simple and affordable solutions for music production. Ms. Ortega has a vast experience in the music field as a teacher and performer. She is a very authentic and unique artist that represents the fusion of classic and pop, as well as academy and stage experiences.
