Bio

Accrediting the legendary Tina Turner as one of her biggest influences, Janis McDavid has found a way to encourage children to learn and dream in a creative and action-oriented way. After eight years of teaching creative movement, music, yoga and gymnastics to children in the NY area boroughs, Janis McDavid has produced her debut album, Ms. Janis’ Music 4 Me! Volume #1, “Moving Bodies, and Inspiring Hearts.” The songs in Ms. Janis’ first album provide an interactive approach to Pre-K education and are enjoyed by all. The songs teach children motor skills, their colors, about different animals, and about being proud of who they are and the things that make them special.

Enthusiastic students who learn to sing-out clearly and relate confidently with others - will have an inside track to lifetime success. This is inline with Ms. Janis’ mission to inspire children to move their bodies imaginatively, sing their hearts out bravely and maintain a positive attitude.

According to Maureen Healy, a child development expert as well as author of an upcoming book, The Creative Child, “Is every child capable of feeling confident? Yes.” She says, “the role of nurturing a happy child is one of endless encouragement and believing in their dreams.”

Ms. Janis' song “It's Great to be Me” encourages students to share what makes them unique and promotes self-confidence in an upbeat and entertaining way. Ms. Janis’ entices children to learn about the world around them, one heart at a time, through the enjoyment of music.
The song "Dance! Stop!" is one of the hit songs showcased on her first children's CD comprised of ten songs. The song teaches children to both get up and move their bodies, and listen for directions, similar to the game known as Freeze Dance.

“I danced and stopped with my 2 1/2 year old. She loved it and laughed the whole time. She said she wanted to listen to more songs,” said Andrea Hines Fox.

More songs are on their way too, as Ms. Janis is in the process of working on her next album, Ms. Janis’ Music 4 me! Volume #2, “Tumbling Fun!” to be released March 23.
