Being that I am a solo artist many of my influences came from those solo female artists that pioneered the way for me to grab a mic and put in some work. We are talking about such known female artists like Queen Latifah, lil' Kim, Salt-n-Pepa, Rah Digga, MC Lyte, Missy Elliot and Da Brat to the unsung heroines of old school rap like Pebbly Poo, Ameile and all those early years female rappers. Coming out of the Bronx affectionately known as " Da BX" where hip-hop started I have seen the harsh realities of being raised in an Urban Jungle. I first was bitten by the music bug when I was in 3rd grade and did a little rap for my school assembly. From then on I became a "Hip-Hop Dreamgirl" you can say. By the time I was in my late teens I had honed my skills enough to enter local talents shows. I have been a mainstay on the underground circuit taking timeout only for motherhood.
Being from the inner city I know all about struggling to make it and someone can hear it in my music. I rap from deep inside my soul. So many of my lyrics speak as a testimony of my life. It is through hip-hop I am able to express my feelings because I live and breathe the music. To put it plain and simple I am a true representative of what the Hip-Hop community is about. The complexities and paradoxes that can be seen throughout the Hip-Hop world is also seen in my life. The ups and downs personally as well as professionally. I have seen it all and " I am a Survivor".
Because of my knowledge about the hardships of those that came before me I have so much respect for the craft that I am choosing to pursue. I have shown trememndous patience in fine tuning my skills and now I am ready to explode on the music scene as the next big thing out of the N.Y.C. I have a mixed tape that is going to set things off for me in late 2007 and I am ready to drop my debut album sometime next year. I have performed up and down the East coast and have created a buzz for myself. Now is the time to take it to the next level and go Global with my talents. I can be found in the lab working on my next project because I am going to be a force to be reckoned with for years to come showing "NO MERCY" for the game.
For 2007 the sky is the limit so watch out for Ms. Merciless coming to a hood near you soon!!!
