"MARILYN T CLEF: YOUNG, GIFTED AND BLACK"

Just as eyes are the window to the soul, music is the voice to the story. Everyone has a story, but everyone is not blessed with the ability and opportunity to give voice to their story and be heard.
Marilyn T Clef has a voice that rings loud and clear of a young woman who is a natural born fighter. At the tender age of 25, she has recorded her first album, TriPhasic, which will become available this month. Marilyn T Clef’s music style can be classified as Rhythm & Blues, Pop, Neo-Soul and Jazz. Her voice is raspy, strong yet gentle, young yet wise. Her music is designed to inspire and encourage the listener to keep on going through the hard times and lonely times. This is heard in Marilyn’s favorite song from the album ‘Women’.
“This is my favorite song because it embodies everything I am about as a woman to live life and not allow your past to control your destiny. Be happy. It sums up what I am about.” Justly spoken; has encountered many things in recent years that would slow down, if not stop, the average person. At 21 she was diagnosed with Lupus.
“It’s a daily struggle. You have some good days and you have some not so good days, plain and simple. I don’t allow it (Lupus) to hinder me. I still do what I love. I don’t sit around saying ‘woe is me’. I take the negativeness of life and make positive manifestations of them.” This energy is definitely felt and heard throughout her album. “I hope to acquire fame with a purpose,” says Marilyn T Clef, “Helping people is an integral part of who I am. I definitely desire to help the National Lupus Foundation, whose main objective is finding a cure and increasing the quality of life of victims of the disease. Sadly, so many women who have the disease are also victims of abuse. My heart sincerely goes out to women who are in abusive situations. I hope to be able to help some of them in a real way some day. I want to provide shelter and other resources and help fellow foundations that deal with autoimmune disorders/diseases.”
With this disease and any sickness really, it is important to steer clear of unnecessary stress and stay positive and focused. Stay focused on staying positive. It is important to always, as much as possible, do what you love. Love heals us. Love sets us free. Ultimate Living love holds our lives together.
“I love music because it allows such creativity without limitations. Music allows everyone to really express themselves.” Marilyn T Clef says laughingly.
Although Marilyn T Clef has been singing pretty much all her life, her music career, as we will soon know it, began in 2008 when she and Wallace Barner of Dubb Beats Productions were doing a gig together. Marilyn was actually a background singer at the time. “Wallace and I began working together developing my style or genre, that you will hear on my first album which is in FYE Stores and HMB in the UK. My album is also on iTunes, Amazon.com, all of the major internet sites out there. Tech advancement has definitely created more avenues to push oneself and open doors in ways a person pursuing their dream wouldn’t have a chance at all. So many opportunities are available now that were not years ago. Music is a saturated industry full of talented people who fail daily. I wish it were not so because they ARE so good.”
Everybody deserves their dream(s). Keep going. Take lessons, take cues. Get a good team behind you. “Many many thanks to Wallace and EVERYONE for helping me in so many areas and sticking with me through it all. People like him make our dreams a reality.”
