"Cd-review Baby I Am Everywhere"

Loads of performances, lots of songs and an ever growing reputation as a live band. About time for a couple of songs on a shiny disc – finally, an EP by Mucho Maestro! Unfortunately, this EP has only got four songs on it.

The EP kicks of solidly with Boys And Girls. While you think of a very innocent and happy tune judging the opening sounds, the first verse puts you on a different track. This song sets the tone for the entire disc. Not only musically, but also in lyricwise these songs are rock solid. The Rotterdam-based threesome, consisting of guitarist Mike, bass player J-J and drummer Guido, make for a very complete package.

How to describe their music? As theatrical punk? Or arty post wave? Maybe even Tom Waits stripped to his bare essentials? All of it is true, but Mucho Maestro feels a right twat when blowing their own trumpet. The song You Lose is again a great combination of good guitar and drumwork combined with solid lyrics and a dirty vocal sound. A big thumbs-up to the song Sick that really brings 3/4 time feel back to pop music! The EP ends with No Encores, a track that any live band would be jealous of.

Mucho Maestro, founded in the year 2005, claims to get its name from the French New Music movement from the nineteen-twenties, they regard themselves as the resurrection. Leader of the pack, Maginot (who was also quite famous for his concrete constructions) should be proud of the Mucho Maestro men. I can’t wait to get hold of a complete album! - VPRO 3voor12

"Cd-review Baby I Am Everywhere"

Mucho Maestro is at the absolute other end of the spectrum. These fine young men take style very seriously. In their presentation, eyeliner and matching suits but also sound-wise. They describe their music as “Tom Waits meets Primus in a smoky whiskey bar, only different”.

Their description is not fully spot on, because the music that they make is simply not to be categorized that easily. Intense, chaotic, occasionally witty, infectiously danceable, lyrically meaningful, sharp and intelligent.

Not very easy on the listener, but absolutely worth to give it a try. Highly recommended for music lovers who dare to be stylishly different! - Fileunder.nl

"Cd-review Baby I Am Everywhere"

It’s all a joy of recognition when listening to Mucho Maestro. The four songs remind me of Kaizers Orchestra mixed with Tom Waits. Don’t get me wrong, no dull action replays here. The songs sound fresh, original and surprisingly different.

But the main plus value is that this sounds like it’s played with so much pleasure. Delicious tempo changes and funny use of vocals, the lyrics are meaningful too. It’s obvious from the start: this band has got charisma. They’re astonishing and they know how to throw a party on the stage. - LiveXS

"Mucho Maestro live @ Dying Giraffe Labelnight"

Time for desert! Mucho Maestro. Guido, J-J and Mike get the idea: performing is not just playing your songs. It’s in their blood, the stage is where the belong.

What else can I say about Mucho Maestro? That the songs are rock solid in composition and lyrics? That they’re simply great musicians?

Let me just round it off by putting a little more icing on the cake: this week, the song Boys And Girls entered the Dutch Indie Charts at number 8! Which summer festival would like to have dinner with Mucho Maestro? What would the gentlemen fancy? - VPRO 3voor12

"Supporting Hank Pine & Lily Fawn"

Funny how things can happen. Mucho Maestro, consisting of Mike, J-J and Guido are supporting the Canadian duo Hank Pine & Lily Fawn.

At the un-Saturday-ly time of eight thirty they’re playing a smashing show for a nearly empty concert hall, save a small army of female fans.

The trio, who’ve only been performing in this line-up for about a year, proves to have gone through a spectacular growth.
From the opener Take Me To France, a punky shuffle, these guys in their long navy overcoats show that they’ve really perfected their cabaretesque mix of Tom Waits, Primus and Kaizers Orchestra.

What strikes me most is that the band delivers a highly spectacular and enthusiastic show, despite the lack of a proper audience. The interaction between J-J’s (the smoky rocker) and Mike’s (clownish punk) vocals is well balanced.

"Mucho Maestro wins Geheim van Babylon band contest"

This year, the Geheim van Babylon band contest, has once again yielded a very talented winner that just oozes style. Threesome Mucho Maestro – with their distinctive mix of big band, jazz and Primus-like intermezzo – managed to convince the audience of the necessity for them to win. - Babypop.nl

Bio

How to describe their music? As theatrical punk? Arty post wave? Maybe even Tom Waits stripped to his essentials? All of it is true, but Mucho Maestro feels a right “twat” when blowing its own trumpet.

Mucho Maestro, founded in the year 2005, is the epitomized contemporary renaissance of “The New Music” of the roaring nineteen-twenties.

Leader of the pact, Maginot - also known for his clever concrete constructions - came in a vision and said to be proud of these three young men from Rotterdam: “Mucho Maestro has cleverly reinvented the way guitar music is to be made. They have proved to understand the art of performance, recording without fancy trickery and how to (t)widdle knobs and strings to create a sound that is truly their own.”

Mucho Maestro – with lyrical themes such as social poverty, mental poverty, spiritual poverty, intellectual poverty and simply having no money – guarantees a genuine live sensation.

Mucho Maestro is intense, chaotic, occasionally witty, conspicuously danceable, sharp and intelligent, both visually and sonically astounding!
