Dylan Mugabe (Vocals), Phil Wilkinson (Guitar), Rudi Pretorius (Guitar), Wak Knicklebein (Bass) and Marius Wium (Drums and Backup Vocals)
A new project by the members of the critically acclaimed band The Transkei Cowboys, Mugabe and the Sex Machines was formed in 2010 and is currently recording their first album and gigging furiously.
They were voted the winners at both the preliminary and semi-final rounds of the Durex Ultimate Battle, a nation-wide "battle of the bands," and will take part in the finals in Johannesburg on 7 June, where they will share the stage with up-and-coming bands such as Newtown, A Fate Like Yours and The Centrefolds.
They have also gigged alongside many high-profile national acts in their hometown, including Irvine and Dance You're On Fire.
The Sex Machines play sexy, driving blues riffs with a liberal helping of hard rock awesomeness, but they're also known for dancing like drunken idiots and being generally irresistible to women of all ages.
They plan to release their first album independently later in 2011, tentatively called "I Know You Actually Like It," and tour the SA festival scene to promote the recording.
