Life on TV EP - 2005
Side of The Road LP - 2007

In 2005, Mugdown was formed to make throw back rock and roll with an electric and improvistional live show. With songwriting that is a tribute to the storytelling of Neil Young and the flowing poetic style of Jack Johnson, Mugdown appeals to a wide range of audience. There live performances showcase tight sections of disco and reggae, mixed with freeform jamming and complicated instrumental orchestration, similar to modern day jam bands like Moe.

Ken Coulson, singer and guitarist, began writing songs after living in Europe for almost 5 years. His song writing is a product of exposure to different cultures and experiences but a recognition that it is our commonalities that unite and divide us. Ken's guitar playing is another thing altogether. Fierce and unwieldy, soaring and melodious, the guitar will propel you to new levels of musical appreciation.

The layered and jazzy tones underlying Mugdown's sound are the compliments of Sharad Khemani. Sharad's unique musical talent bring the listener to multiple emotional states as his fingers dance along the keys.

Mugdown's backbone is the dynamic rhythm brought by Jon Callegari on Bass and Alan Katzman on Drums. Both longtime musicians, this duo brings the noise from funk to disco, to indie, to reggae and jazz which give the band such diverse and powerful sounds.

At the end of 2005, Mugdown released a 4 song LP, Life on TV. The EP showcased Ken's songwriting with 'She Suggested' but also revealed the band's jammier, jazzier side with 'Barbie's' and 'Life on TV'

In mid-07, The band released their first full length album, Side of the Road. SOTR, reflects as much an inward journey as a collection of innovative songs and instrumentation for fans to kick back an enjoy. SOTR, helped showcase the bands developing comfort with another, in different musical styles and arrangement.

Mugdown has been sharing their live show mostly in NYC and Western CT, building attention and recognition as a innovative, exciting live act that will leave a lasting impression with new crowds. In addition to booking shows and festivals for Summer and Fall, The band is currently choosing from 20 unrecorded songs to record their 2nd full length album in the summer of 08'.
