"Debuts 2011"

(This article was in a polish magazine, it is about the most interesting new bands 2011.)

W muzyce grupy odnajdziemy delikatne dzwieki gitar polaczone z ambientowymi pejzazami. Sila Mukkaló jest bez watpienia prostota kompozycji, a takze glos wokalisty. Najwyzszy czas pozegnac Sigur-Ros i przywitac nowe.

With the help of google translate:

Mukkaló a team with just one year service, but its members still managed to fill a pretty good team biography. Group has a proven documented in the video tour of the wild corners of Iceland and a few realized production for theater. The music group we find the delicate sounds of guitars combined with ambient landscapes. Mukkaló strength is without doubt the simplicity of the composition, and the singer's voice. It is high time to say goodbye Sigur Ros and-greet new ones. - uwolnijmuzyke

"Musicians' new band tips for 2011"

Jack Steadman, Bombay Bicycle Club. “I’m really excited about Mukkaló, from Iceland. We met them when we played in Reykjavik a few months ago – they were playing in a clothes store, all smiling throughout the whole show. The singer plays a guitar that his great uncle made in the 1940s. He let me play it after the show and it was the most beautiful guitar I’ve ever played.” - NME

Bio

We are the band Mukkaló. Four boys and two girls from Iceland in our early twenties. We play indie/folk music, sometimes with a ambient touch and sometimes with a country feeling. We strive to combine simple songwriting with unusual instrumentation creating a unique sound of our own.

We formed the band in the Autumn of 2009 and played our first show shortly after at the Iceland Airwaves music festival. Since then we have been playing a lot of shows, from small pubs to churches. We have both taken part in music events in Iceland and organized our own shows. In 2010 we were asked to write and record songs for an Icelandic documentary called "Frelsi ?" which we did, and it was a great experience.

In December 2010 we played our biggest show yet, and our first one outside Iceland. We opened for the English band Bombay Bicycle Club at Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. We played two shows for about 1,600 people. For these London concerts we made an EP consisting of four songs recorded on an old tape recorder. Our EP sold very well after the show and we also heard about several good reviews in English newspapers.

Later in December we organized a church tour around Iceland, holding concerts in different churches all around the country. We like the idea of playing our music in beautiful old churches which have such a nice sound. Our dream with our concerts is to create a special atmosphere, a combination of music, people, and the environment.

Our next plan is to record our debut album this year with producer Alex Somers and follow it up with tours in the UK, Europe, and North America.
