Discography

Heart Matters is a 6 track EP recorded at Old Dog Studios near Lismore.

Radio station ZZZ has been playing Pretty Face off the CD since September 2010 and has recently started playing Mr Phony off the same EP. The CD also contains the bluesy ballad - Miss you; the latin feeling - Not to blame, the rock/blues of Other woman, and something a little more funky in - I should have known.

Bio

MumboJumbo blends the talents of five of the Northern Rivers finest muso’s into a fusion of Soul, Blues and Pop-Rock to create what one punter described as "a funktastic vibe and infectious sound".

The guitar pyrotechnics and onstage antics of Horrie "Master Blaster" Bevan are well known to audiences from the USA to the length and breadth of Oz and he has performed with the likes of Tommy and Phil Emmanuel as well as many other major performers of the Oz music scene. Neil Jeffs is a southpaw guitarist. He recently retired his favourite black strat for a younger, blonde version and they are making wonderful music together. This highly respected bluesman has a killer tone and his feel is sublime.

The silky, soulful but also 'rocky when she wants to be' tones of Tamara Ward make all the tunes fly and her sax playing adds a little more brass and class. The infectious beats generated by Jim Lieschke, percussion and Jon de Laurence on bass, drive and energise the sound. These rhythm kings have been playing together for over ten years and it is evident in their ability to intuitively connect with each other.

This is what local band reviewer Pat Madden said about the band in an article in the local Northern Star news paper. "MumboJumbo took to the stage with one thing in mind, rocking some socks. It didn't take long for the drums to beat everyone in to taking some notice and the girl leading the band took charge of the songs with a solid vocal performance but it was the guitarists that had me getting involved with the music...the Gollan proved that real entertainment can be found in local music."

One thing the band is proud of having achieved is that they have established a unique sound which successfully crosses over a range of demographics. Audience feedback from the more traveled and experienced to the more critical, possibly better informed but definitely less shop worn has been unanimously positive

Recent material such as Walls which is about mental health and Terminal Greed which considers the state of the planet, express a more socio-political sentiment. Other recent additions to the set list are Time which is a song about coming to terms with loss, Rush which describes homecoming and Friends tells the story of racing hearts and fumbling hands.

With a swag of their own songs characterised by infectious melodies, smooth and smokey vocals, a broad sweep of styles, a dual guitar slinger line up and a rhythm section that won’t let up, MumboJumbo are determined to give their audiences a good time.
