Source: The WIRE UK, review of Mundo, Dub Assembly 007 vinyl released Summer 2008
“This is his seventh dubplate in just around twelve months and by stamping his dub credentials across the first two of those he continues to defy expectations with every release, although bass is the key. The rebel stances in these new tunes are heightened by what sound like crackling old school techno samples and what lifts the tunes above revisionist criticism is that they are built purely for the dance. Along with Disrupt (see above) Mundo is responsible for breathing new life into the dub scene whilst making regular inroads into dubstep's refreshingly open frameworks and kicking over the traces of any hint of a strict 2step/UK garage background.”
************************************************************************source: www.bostondubstep.com, March 2008 The Lone Star state hosts one of the country’s most popular Dubstep Events, DUB ASSEMBLY, with a record label under the same name, Dub Assenbly Recordings is responsible for some of the genre’s heaviest tunes as of late.. On the buttons, knobs and faders is Jason Mundo, who has been at the forefront of Dubstep since it evolved as an offshoot subgenre of UK Garage, and Sub Low. With his 6th DA release MUNDO has pushed the barrier of modern dubstep’s clone syndrome sound and has included his own unique signature with sub frequency tremblers like “LOW”. His earlier works includes a vicious 4x4 bassline thumper , “Lonely People” which takes the Beatles classic and skillfully crafts an aural feast of low end bass attacks and filter sweeps that is down right insatiable. source: www.bostondubstep.com, March 2008 ************************************************************************Dubstep Blog Tranquera.org lists Mundo "Low" and Mundo "Down in the South" as two of the best of 2007. source: DJ Kowalski, www.tranquera.org, listed March 2008 ************************************************************************

This is his third single in as many months, and by the time you’re reading this, no doubt another plate will already be pressed up. Mundo is a disciple of the bottom end, with trademark bass drops. His tunes can be played across dub, dubstep, and breaks sets with equally devastating effect. The bass on “My Sound” comes fully formed, rolling consistently throughout the track with an almost Techno feel, while “Burn it Down” is a choppier breaks affair, breathless with call and response rhythms and intermittent DJ grunts, It’s dub, but not as we know it. – The Wire UK, May 2007 ************************************************************************ DA004 Review – www.suburbantrash.c8.com - May 2007 Dub Assembly is becoming more and more one of the top labels at the moment ************************************************************************DA004 Review – www.smallfish.co.uk - May 2007 The 4th installment in Mundo's series of 10"s is just as much of an essential as the rest. Taking the Dubstep sound into stripped down, utterly Dubwise territory, his production totally does the sound justice with pulsating beats to keep you nodding and some killer, speaker shaking basslines. Add to that the atmospherics that keep it sinister and moody and you've got yourself another pick of the Dubstep bunch. Class. ************************************************************************ DA004 Review – www.phonicarecords.co.uk - May 2007 Texan dubstep maverick Mundo returns with his fourth release and two ultra heavy & dark dubstep monsters that'll rank pretty high on the richter scale! ************************************************************************DA004 Review – www.boomkat.com (UK) - May 2007 Jason Mundo keeps loading them up thick 'n fast, now onto the 4th release in the Dub Assembly schedule, further defining his deep south dubstep ideal. 'Big up' runs with an 808 styled riddim, taking the same T la Rock/Mantronix reference point as Loefah and now Kode9 (check this weeks Soul Jazz release), and shackles it to a snarling bass for an effective dancefloor driving sound. 'Threat' comes down with the fear on the flip, entering an echo chamber of dread and foisty ganja smoke for cinematic effect ************************************************************************ DA003 – www.phonicarecords.co.uk - April 2007 Mundo is on a roll churning out those heavyweight 10'' as if it were the easiest thing on the planet. The good thing is that the quantity has not affected the quality! "My Sound / Burn It Down" are two heavy dubstep cuts that will make your speakers tremble with fear and the ground around you vibrate like a mofo. It's still pretty difficult to believe that this guy's not a south Londoner! ************************************************************************DA003 Review – www.smallfish.co.uk - April 2007 The third installment of the Texan Dub Assembly series is yet another dark, heavy, completely dubwise rekkid. Rough beats and heavier basslines than the previous releases this, once again, features Lifted MC and has a beautifully produced, spacious flavour. For fans of the good stuff this is a definite must. ************************************************************************ DA002 Review – www.phonicarecords.co.uk - March 2007 Rolling in with distant steel drums and heavily compressed percussion Mundo hacks in some Distance style metal guitar chops over a bassline that could almost be Pinch's 'Punisher' bass, but isn't. Hooking up with Lifted MC for the B-side spreads the wide open skies of his native Texas over the Molasses thick b-line and an irresistable steppers rhythms for a worldwide dubstep killer. ************************************************************************ DA002 Review – www.smallfish.co.uk - March 2007 2nd release for us on the Texan Dub Assembly labal and once again it proves to be at the top end of the Dubstep ladder. Superbly heavy, beautifully dubby and full of heavy-duty sound effects and tones. Good use of vocal samples punctuates the pulsating basslines and stilted beats and, generally, if you're a fan of this sound you absolutely can't go wrong with this. Very good indeed. ************************************************************************ “…[Mundo] Alongside Matty G (Argon) and Juju (NarcoHZ), the USA is making big waves on this side of the dubstep pond. Bio

A first generation stateside dubstep and stateside UKGarage pioneer since 2000, Jason Mundo is a veteran in all things heavy. Mundo's Dub Assembly Records label continues to release bangers on a monthly basis while touring extensively and consistently through the USA, Europe, and now Mexico as well.

Mundo continues to break new ground as 2010 sees Mundo releasing a track on Southside Dubstars Greatest Hits Vol 1 (a 2xCD and download compilation from heavy hitting London UK label Southside Dubstars, Mundo is the only American on the compilation), releasing 2 dubstep tracks on top selling stateside dubstep compilation Stateside Steppas which ranked as high as #4 on the Juno Download sales charts, a forthcoming 12" release on Scotland's top label, Fortified Audio, and release more tracks on San Francisco's top techdub/techno label Blipswitch ("Mountains of Zion" in January 2010).

Mundo's crucial weekly UKGarage and Dubstep event "Groovology" was North America's largest UKGarage event from 2000-2005, hosted performances from the likes of MJ Cole, and Zed Bias, and saw the vinyl release of Mundo's hit dubstep track "I Stand Rasta" supported by J da Flex, Kode 9, Hatcha, Caspa, L-Wiz, and more, the hit 4x4 Garage track "Lonely People" (sampling the Beatles Eleanor Rigby) on the Wideboys' label supported by Garage and House deejays across the UK including Martin Larner, DJ Cameo (BBC 1xtra), Richie Vibe Vee (BBC 1 Xtra), the Wideboys and more, and the hit 2step bootleg remix of Keysha Cole's "Should've Cheated" played extensively on BBC Radio 1xtra by DJ Cameo and pirate radio deejays across England.

The Dub Assembly monthly event carries this tradition from 2006 thru 2010 and beyond. Jason is the only American other than Todd Edwards to spin live on BBC Radio 1xtra's Garage shows and to spin In Ayia Napa Cyprus, summer's UKG vacation home. . 2007 and 2008 saw Mundo go on 2 European Dubstep Tours with numerous performances in England, Scotland, Ireland, Cyprus, the Netherlands, Austria, and Germany as well as release over twenty dubstep releases on the Dub Assembly label, both in digital and vinyl formats ( 8 vinyl and 23 digital currently) including the hits "Still Stand Rasta" supported on BBC Radio One by Mary Anne Hobbs, "Down In the South", "Dead Bloodklat" and dozens more unreleased killa dubs. 2009 saw Mundo sign 2 tracks to San Francisco's wicked dubstep and techno label, Blipswitch, and perform in Mexico and Germany as well as across the USA. 2010 and beyond will continue to see Mundo, Jason Mundo, break new ground in the bass heavy scene.
