Bio

Munkster hail from London and are a band who have captured the essence of quintessentially British Rock 'n' Roll. This twenty-something four piece have already got the critics hot under the collar with comparison's to a young Radiohead (NME Editor, Connor McNicholas),The Red Hot Chilli Peppers (The Fly) and Turin Brakes (Rocksound). Comparisons such as these at an early stage can only mean
they're destined for great things.

Their records are sound sculptures, revealing raw emotion and thudding guitars. Munkster fuse their
trademark driving beats and funky basslines with catchy riffs and open heart surgery vocals, offering a heavier and gutsier take on bands like Coldplay and Starsailor. Their desire is to create a music that reaches out to everyone, with meaningful lyrics and pure unaffected emotion, which is why their well-structured songs and choruses stick in your head.

The band started gigging in the seedy underbelly of London’s rock scene and have gone on to perform
for Greenpeace at Glastonbury Festival. This spring sees them set to play more dates around the UK and their 1st show in the USA at the South by Southwest Festival in Texas. The band are currently writing new songs, with nearly 40 tracks written to choose from for their debut album and over 20 already demoed. Touring has given them the opportunity to refine their performance skills and produce stronger new material. They are dedicated to playing live and are building an ever-growing following from fans who recognise their talent as live performers.

Munkster are already targeting America. With new release 'The Precious and the Painless EP' scheduled to recieve US radio play, the ‘Everyone Knows Your Name’ promo video shown at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, and the SXSW Texas performance in March they look set to make an impression!

Back home in the UK, Radio One picked up on the boys hard work getting to America for SXSW and interviewed the band for Steve Lamacq’s show. Also, as a direct result of their SXSW performance the boys now have a world-wide distribution deal with New York based company The Orchard.

The next step will be to release Munkster’s debut album. Parts of it have been already recorded at the legendary Fortress studios, by Tom McFall (Scissor Sisters, Ikara Colt, Kill Keneda). The boys have also found out that they will be soon heading into the studio to do some tracks with producer Julian Standen (The Lemonheads, The Smiths).

Munkster’s winning formula, which combines rock with melodic pop, combined with their pin-up good looks, and effortless style have them set firmly on the road to success. Rhiannon Sheehy, Spring PR
