Murda 1

In the late 80's when hip-hop came into full swing Murda 1 has been its straight-A student. With teacher's such as KRS-One, NWA, Slick Rick, and the great Rakim, the South Jamaica Queens teen rapper then known as "Coke" set out to achieve what he claims as his destiny. Indeed school was in session. With every new artist dropping new songs his love for hip hop became one that would truly last forever.

By the age of 12 he was already writing his own songs that at the time were only for the homeboys that he grew up with. Always an A-student in school he also developed and honed a passion for writing which made it common sense the he would begin to flourish as a hip hop song writer.

As the teenage years came so did the experiences. The single parented youngest of 3 became a product of his 40 project's environment using music as his escape from the constant business of being in the streets. His aggressive style comes from the aggressive blocks he spent most of his hours on mastering the art of addition. When time allowed he would write songs and record them with a microphone and tape recorder with an instrumental playing in the background until the streets paid off and he came across 2 turntables and an even better mic.

By the age of 16 he had already become a favorite amongst his friends his loyalty in keeping it real always kept him an ear to listen. But his loyalty to the other game eventually landed him in prison and hence he became Murda 1.

After his stint in Corrections Murda set his focus. He hooked up with an old friend who happened to make beats and started putting his experiences into songs which were now being professionally recorded.

Aligning himself with another friend and cousin D.R.A.S.T.I.C. was born. These 7 letters derived from and also define the lifestyle, the approach and the attitude that not only he possessed but was a perfect fit for the others in the group as well.

After recording mix tapes worth of songs D.R.A.S.T.I.C. decided to step the game up and record an album but give it to the people as a mix tape and they titled that project, "The Hunger". In 2004 it was released and instantly solidified them as underground heavyweights.

After a great street reception and alot of politics Murda 1 set out on his solo quest but not as an artist but as Owner and operator of D.R.A.S.T.I.C. Music his new founded record company. His love for the game and his ability to network in a proficient manner soon became the tools to a great jumpstart.

Now only rapping because he loves to do it He spends most of his time preparing his own roster of artists for the spotlight. Still everything is real and his approach is as such. His destiny will be completed because his determination is unmatched.
