""Graffiti" off the streets, in the club"

The Pyramid Club in the East Village will host an art showcase called "Graffiti" tomorrow, featuring graffiti artists from New York and around the country as well as up-and-coming hip-hop and R&B artists.

The event will take over both floors of the club, with the main musical acts upstairs, and graffiti art, open mike and DJs on the main floor.

Organizer Tee of Fr33dom Entertainment said the event was the idea of headlining R&B artist Guia, who has a song called "Graffiti" on her debut album, Emerge.

Other artists include hip-hop artists Division X, Substantial, Murdakkh and FHM. Graffiti artists will include New York groups BT (whose tag is Bare1) and A51 (with the tag Maks) and non-New York groups JML and Kais.

Although the event does not have a sponsor, Tee said record labels Island Def Jam, MTV and Ruff Ryders will be scoping out the open-mike crowd.

Street art takes a break from the cold at the Pyramid Club, 101 Avenue A between 6th and 7th Street, tomorrow night from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Cover is $8 with a pre-purchased ticket, $10 at the door. - Kaveri Marathe
