Bio

The story of Musa is a familiar, and old one. A story of a need to communicate the solemn and subtle experiences of the human being, to the human collective. Like Archivists in the basement of an ancient library, we committed to cataloging the emotions and the expressions of the human race on September 11th 2001. Perhaps in retrospect, to find a belonging and even a connection in that human race, during a modern age when we all felt the most alienated from it. Like so many Artists, Scientists, and Spiritualists, before us, this was born from a love, and executed in the only universal language we could all speak... music. Like a horn, a trumpeters call, or even the naked human voice itself, it all begins with a strange musical wind starting to blow...

It was the kind of wind that shakes at your windows, but shakes even harder deep down in the chest upon the heart. Like the Santa Anas, it carries a charge affecting, unexplainably, the psyche. For us four young men it was the wind of change. Change on a personal level, which translated to our collective transmission on a extra-personal level; the way a deep meditation and inward reflection, explicably carries profound resonance in the outside world by our perceptions. We immediately all agreed the best name for this would be Musa, which is taken from the latin and simply means "inspiration". Inspiration seemed fitting because we sought to "reflect" on others through our own deep mental musings, and in turn pass those musings from "inter-personal" to "extra-personal", and from person to person, like the germination of flowers, or the vibrational resonance of point particles in physics, this is natural law. This led to Musa axiom #1 that "art breeds art"

So how does this story end? Well one thing that all those apart of Musa, who live this philosophy will agree, is that the answer is simple: Musa will go on. Musa will continue with its catalogue, playing to those who listen, and reaching out like any art does; right over the heads of some, and right into the minds and hearts of others, and this will continue for as long as we manifest Musa in this ritual. There has never been any doubt of Musa axiom #2 that "instinct must give way to evolution" and so we will continue to evolve our catalogue as long as the human spirt continues to feel and grow itself. The only "unknown" in this equation is the size of the gallery this art will be displayed. But I remind everyone, that the context, the caliber, and the reasons of art, never change, whether it's on display at the Louvre or it's the man on Granville drawing your portrait.
