Bio

"Metroglyphs featuring Musa.Solomon" is fresh, brilliant and most of all - unique, laced with hot production, brilliant writing, and soulful vocals. Raw, concrete and relevant - Musa.Solomon takes you through joys, pains, poverty, love, politics, sex and spirituality. Since 1993, Musa.Solomon has conducted workshops, performances and lectures for numerous colleges and universities, nonprofit organizations, theaters and school systems throughout the USA. He currently is Assistant Education Director for nationally reknown Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Company in Denver, Colorado, and a Development Board Chair for Art From Ashes, a nonprofit performing arts organization in Denver, CO, whose mission is therapeutic healing via Poetry, Spoken-Word, Dance, Theater, Visual and Fine Art for "at-risk" youth. From Columbine High School to recreational centers, Solomon has vested himself as a committed artist in communities across the nation.

"Art has a function; I have been blessed with a gift that I MUST share with the world. I always knew that producing music, writing, and performing was what I wanted to do." Solomon adds. In addition to his professional accomplishments, he has Produced 5 Albums, Published 3 Literary Collections (1993, 1997, 2004), Written 3 Stage Plays ("Reality", "2 in the Bush" w/ Ty Young, & "Myra's House") and has Co-Written a Screenplay (36 Moons). Solomon's latest project, Metroglyphs [the artistry] is a DVD/CD compilation with interviews (conducted by Black Starz! Khadijah Yates), live performances, videos, excerpts from his latest book (Del Sol - 2004) bios and many extras (we can't tell you everything)! "I hope to provide a holistic example in regards to the art. I am truly a renaissance man. I despise categories. My background is varied, and it reflects in the work. I love making music, words truly move me, and the stage is my home. If I'm ever inspired to paint - I'll do that. I have tried to hold down jobs, ya know, the typical 9 to 5 thing - but it just wasn't me. I would sabotage myself, unconsciously, so that I could write, sing, play or whatever. I sometimes stay up days at a time without realizing it! Just to perfect this hook or that phrase or mix. I know nothing else."
