"The Dots Have Arrived"

Starting off life in the south side of Glasgow, this band was originally put together by bass player/vocalist Charlie Jones and lead guitarist/vocalist Raymond Quinn. In the early days, they were known as Black Shuck, and played music reminiscent of the likes of Free and Led Zeppelin. In November 2009, after changing their drummer and dropping the numbers to a four piece, they became The Dots.

With their garage rock sound similar to the likes of The Strokes and early Kings Of Leon, they have played shows alongside someGlasgowfavourites, such as UKREIGN and Figure Five.

I have listened to this band a lot, and wait in anticipation for their debut EP to be released. As great as they are on CD, nothing compares to their sound and performance on stage. Opening many of their gigs with the pounding ‘Gimme a Reason’, really gets the crowd roaring and the band warmed up for another superb performance. This song and ‘Last Horse in Town’, are two perfect examples of Raymond and Charlie’s duelling, almost Libertines-esque, vocals. This, alongside the solid wall of sound created by Mark and Paul, sets The Dots apart from any other band in the Glasgow indie music scene at the moment.

The Dots self titled debut EP will be released this summer. There’s a wee taster at their Myspace page here. Keep up to date with the Facebook for more details.

Bio

After a failed attempt at the illustrious Hungarian Electro Soul movement, the band binned their key-tars, removed their make up, kicked their ridiculous Toilet Duck habit and formed - The Dots. A band some would call indie, some may call rock n roll, The Dots mix a tight modern sound with a Stonesy swagger to create something special. 2009/2010 Seen several shows in Glasgow (one with Emma's imagination), Dundee and a special show with Tim Burgess of The Charlatans in London.
