What are colors? Colors are all around us, everywhere we look
There are so many different colors; yet so beautiful and radiant.
And yet Music Has No Color!

Tired of the current state of music offerings, a group of five talented young musicians and friends (Shontavia Weatherly (Lead Vocalist), DiAndre “Dre” Bellamy (Rapper), David Phelps (Drummer), Timothy Maxey (Piano), Matthew Hines and (Bass Guitar)) from the South Suburbs of Chicago, who met in high school and performing arts school (Merit School of Music) decided to collaborate to bring good music back. In the summer of 2011, the band “Music Has No Color” (MHNC) was formed.

MHNC’s plan was simple, like the spectrum of colors in light, to produce music that fused the old and the new. Real musicianship with instrumentation ornamented with technology. Soulful, heart felt songs with positive lyrics.

When asked what is the significance of the name “Music Has No Color” and what’s the goal of the group? Their response was, “We're saying music has no color! We can make good music, if we were black, white, purple, or green! Good music… is good music!

You can’t really label MHNC because MHNC has a variety musical influences ranging from Aretha Franklin to Adele. From the Beatles to Earth, Wind, and Fire to Mint Condition. From Common to Drake From Michael Jackson to Usher. From old school R&B, to Rap to Hip Hop and Rock. From Soul to Neo Soul. From Gospel to Jazz. Diverse are the musical influences that have informed MHNC unique and fresh sound.

Their debut EP on Imani Faith Productions label – “Rise and Grind” is a kaleidoscope of music. With amazing production and world-class musicianship MHNC is definitely changing the face of music. Rise and Grind is a tasty sampler of the group’s musical diversity. From the amazing rocks riffs of Rise and Grind, to the neo soulful sound of Back in the Day. To the hard-hitting hip hop beats of The Mission, to the thought provoking alternative sound of Smile, the listener will be taken on a musical odyssey by MHNC.

MHNC is taking the music industry by storm and giving it a fresh sound that real music lovers will appreciate for years to come!
