She’s soft-spoken and reserved. One might even say that she’s shy - a trait she’s maintained since childhood. Her hesitance and timidity, however, quickly dissolve when she opens up to sing.
Music has always been the only way she could freely express her true, uninhibited self. Music, she understood - it is her salvation. So, she studied. She listened. She imitated. She interpreted. She graduated.
All throughout refining her written words.
BELLE celebrates the start of her life on July 16; although she was born into the musical universe on February 14, 2014 through the release of her first EP, post.traumatic.stress.disorder [ptsd]. Her music was very well received on SoundCloud. In six months:
• “sunset in paris”, her debut single garnered over 29,000 plays and 1,000 downloads
• “pills”, a stripped down acoustic recording, with BELLE accompanying herself on the piano - 6,000 plays and 300
• The 7-track EP itself garnered 57,000 plays and 2,000 downloads in the sixth month period since [ptsd]’s release - quite the feat for the first body of work of an unknown artist.
August 14, 2014 saw the release of obsessive.compulsive.disorder [ocd], BELLE’s second EP. Having been likened to artists such as The Weekend and Aaliyah, her first couple of singles paid homage to the latter’s musical inspiration. In a matter of 6 months:
• “enemy” and “no sleep in toronto” together received over 10,000 plays and 400 downloads
• “issues” - another solo piano accompanied song was a favourite with 2,600 plays and 125 downloads
BELLE is an artist who found the courage and strength she needs to be vulnerable. She continues to create with her team, ▲ & co. On March 14, 2014 BELLE reelased her third and final EP attention.deficit.hyperactivity.disorder [adhd]. The well recieved EP is on track to have over 10,000 plays within the first month of release.
