What if you took a large dose of high-energy music, threw in lots of movement, and added a smattering of fun and silliness? You'd probably wind up with something that sounded like Patrick and The Rock-a-Silly Band, a groovin', lovely-tune-spinnin' family music band.

I'm a musician, father of three young children and big kid in a forty-one-year-old's body. Although I've played guitar and written song for what feels like a million years (give or take), it wasn't until I became a parent that I became took an interest the wonderful world of children's music. When I began to attend Music Together classes with my son, I realized this was a great opportunity to put my interests in music and overall silliness into one big, crazy, fun pot and stir! I became a Music Together teacher in 2005, and in 2009 - along with my friend, drummer Mike Campbell - I started my first children's music performances. These were great experiences, full of fun and energy, and when bassist Pete Blomstrom joined us in late 2010, things really started to gel. We've since done concerts in Central Park's Peter Sharpe Children's Glade, at the Brooklyn and Staten Island Children's Museums, and at parks and libraries throughout the New York/New Jersey area. A 2011 Premier Grant from the Council on the Arts for Staten Island (COAHSI) enabled us to record our first CD, a collection of music from a diverse range of cultures. New York One News named me Staten Islander of the Week in recognition of this grant and for my work with children. In December 2011, COAHSI once again awarded me with a grant, this time to do a concert for the children of Staten Island. I am currently Performer-In-Resdience at the Staten Island Children's Museum, which recently asked me to join its Board of Trustees.
With this as well as an album of original material being recorded, Patrick and The Rock-a-Silly Band are bringing' the fun to children and their grown-ups.

SI 350: A Musical Celebration of Staten Island's Past and Present. Released in April 2011 with funds from the Council on the Arts and Humanities for Staten Island.
