Bio

Mother (Mutha) Versacci was born, Nikki McGruder in Miami Beach, Florida, August 15, 1984. When just 15 years-old, Mutha was signed with three of South Florida’s top modeling agencies. At that time, Mutha wanted to rule the runway and set her sights on just that. Through those agencies, Mutha acquired several modeling and acting roles to include key roles in music videos. During one of her music video assignments, Mutha was spotted by artist, DMX. He asked what she did besides model and without hesitation she sang a cappella on the set. At the time, DMX was also filming a documentary. DMX asked her to sing again, but this time, for the camera. Soon, she became one of South Florida’s most sought after background vocalist, socialites and V.I.P.’s at some of the hottest venues in South Florida to date. Her charismatic energy, iconic sense of personal style, brazen-edge and flirtatious girly-girl antics are synonymous with her equally eclectic and non-traditional approach to everything that concerns her. Brandished “The Walking Billboard” by a casting director, Mutha was fast becoming known for her signature “kitty-cat” walk, a nick-name given to describe her playful almost kittenish prance on the runway. Although modeling placed her in all the “it” spots and in the company of very many “it” people, longing to have her poems and songs recorded, Mutha began to position herself in the company of musicians and those affiliated with the music business.

While pursuing her aspirations in music, Mutha diligently worked in corporate America in any creative capacity she could, whether behind the scenes or as a writer, publicist and marketing manager. Her corporate experience allowed her to merge her creativity, passion, music, marketing and business knowledge to form Rock Starr Entertainment, LLC. with her best-friend and producer, Makuta. Makuta and Mutha began writing songs together for Makuta’s, 1st solo project, Rock Star featuring Mutha as lead background vocalist on 3 of the tracks. After Rock Star was complete and released, Makuta and Mutha became a dynamic duo. Then, Makuta invited Mutha to a world saturated with creative minds, style, beauty, music and performance, the ballroom community a world that will definitely influence her style, music and performance tremendously.

The ballroom community has had influence on some of the most iconic people in music entertainment today be it fashion, dance and presence, the ballroom scene as been a school yard for many entertainment icons and legends. Grace Jones and Madonna were the first celebrities to expose the ballroom community, Tyra Banks and Kimora Lee Simmons have some of their key staff extracted from the community. Beyoncé Knowles told a reporter from The Independent "how inspired she's been by the whole drag-house circuit in the States. Mutha lived it. She presided over a house as a natural born woman, competed, won, and judged. Using the ballroom community’s as a plateau, a great deal of Mutha’s style, music and personality can all be contributed to America’s best kept secret societies of the ballroom community. So, keeping her name, with some minor alterations, Mutha bowed out of the scene graciously ready to take her place on yet another throne where the competition is even heavier. She describes the music industry as yet another ball bursting with fierce competitors waiting to slay you before you even start. Her mind set, she comes to the music industry “to snatch, win, upset and destroy the competition.”

Now, on the eve of the release of her very 1st album, Mutha’s Day: The Revolution Will Be Televised, May 2011 and with the industry released and highly anticipated EP, “The Nu Chic both will showcase her unique sound, presence and riche powerhouse vocals. A fusion of house, techno, disco, dance, pop, trance, electronica and R&B, Mutha is no “cookie-cutter”artist. Her songs are exploding with energy. All five tracks are pegged as number one singles and have a soundtrack appeal. Each song comprises crisp elements of heavy baselines, hair-raising electrical guitars and synths, witty lyrics that are braggadocios and edgy; complete with crazy sound effects reminiscent of the late great Michael Jackson’s Thriller album. All these elements are there to make Mutha’s debut album an absolute success. Mutha has been busy building her resume and creating her fan base performing in Miami, Florida for both Super Bowl Weekend and Memorial Day Weekend. She has also performed for the City of North Las Vegas and many other venues in Las Vegas and more recently at Mansion Elan in Atlanta, Georgia. Mutha also featured on WKLAV 1230am Nights Over Las Vegas with DJ Commander for the debut of her single, “Tha Nu Chic” world-wide via internet, twice. As she prepares to make her introduction to the world and those who have already come into “the know”, knows of a life-size Barbie doll that sings as hard as a man and roars like a lion exclaiming h
