It's an enveloping mix of orchestral keyboards, lodged somewhere between the nightmare soundscapes of Frontline Assembly and the elegant etudes of In the Nursery. ...mutual hate society (aka tracy peters) played a basket full of childrens sound-making toys thru a mic & strange effects... nice & abstract, a surprise considering the goth imagery on her web site. bonus points for actually dealing with matt borghi's proposed theme of acoustic sounds. this would fit in with a circuit-bender diy show, methinks...

Do yourself a favor and get past the revolting name of this band. The dream-like, lush sounds of layered keyboards, juxtaposed with harsh and sometimes frightening drums and electonica will captivate anyone with an appreciation of truly experimental electronic music. The "band" comes in the form of Tracy Peters, a talented songwriter and keyboardist from Michigan.
Citing influences such as The Orb, Tangerine Dream, Ministry, Skinny Puppy and other creators of electronica and industrial music, Ms. Peters has created a sound all her own. She has managed to combine elements of industrial, goth, ambient, and even a little 70's disco (in the form of electronic drums). I hear a little Brian Eno and a touch of Vangelis here. Unlike much of the new electronica these days, these compositions were recorded using live performance rather than computerized samples, resulting in a "stream of consciousness" mood to the entire package. There is a feeling of floating throughout the experience of listening to this CD. What makes it so enjoyable is that you never know where you might land.

From the hypnotic strains of "Sleeping in the Arms of Darkness" to the mood-altering beats of "In A World of Oblivion", MHS takes the listener on an aural excursion through the emotions. The CD is aptly titled, and truly gives the listener the feeling of moving about the consciousness of ones own mind. This CD is Highly Recommended for those who enjoy a taste of electronic music and anyone looking to expand their mind.
