Bio
Muzička has a kind of special status on Slovak traditional
music and dance scene. It happened to be at the birth of the new movement in
Slovak traditional music and dance interpretation in the 90-ties. Young musicians started to reject previously
established kitschy-romantic adaptations of traditional material and decided to
dedicate their attention mainly to the study of authentic recordings, films and
also to the field research of still living Slovak traditional musical culture. Muzička
presents results of this wave to the broad public and tries to preserve
original temperament forms. It is not unusual to see hundreds of people dancing at
Muzička’s music. Every member of Muzička, except playing, also sings and
singing is an equally important part of its expression. On the top, Muzička
often cooperates on performances with small group of excelent dancers: http://youtu.be/SZBk2PZbv94?list=RDgat85wzCjYc .
Muzicka interprets different kinds of Slovak
traditional music – temperament (https://soundcloud.com/muzicka/tam-okolo-levoci, https://soundcloud.com/muzicka/oj-na-hori-cvite-len) as well as lyric (https://soundcloud.com/muzicka/dobre_tomu_suhajkovi).
Some of Muzička’s projects tend to be a bit unusual,
although, based on number of view, quite popular

Most of Muzička's showcases take place in
Slovakia, which still has a very vivid scene of traditional music. Muzička
performed at all of Slovakian largest folklore festivals (Východná, Detva,
Myjava...) but also at multi-genre festivals such as Pohoda. Muzička, as well, had
many successful performances in Hungary,
Poland, Czech republic etc.,
where we cooperated with some quite famous musicians - e.g. Fono Band (Budapest), Jan
Karpiel-Bulecka (Zakopane-Poland). Muzička was involved as a co-producer of the
project Husľovačka, which at the years 2007 - 2010 was very succesfull at all
major Slovak folklore festivals with combined audience of more than 25000. (http://youtu.be/qTd9jXm9dKg).
Two of Muzicka’s recording were nominated for a Slovak
version of "Grammy" - Radio_Head Awards in the last 4 years and recording
https://soundcloud.com/muzicka/romske-zo-sarisa placed 4th in international contest of broadcast recordings
"Svetozár Stračina Grand Prix" in 2009.
Thank you for your time and we hope you will find our work interesting for possible cooperation.
