The Ubiquitous M.D.S. (MyDamm Self) born Anton Modeste Jr in Brooklyn New York to Trinidadian parents. This mixture of educated street smarts with Caribbean life values raised and paved the way to the artist, the person the man MyDamm.
M.D.S. stands for who his total persona, style and image represents MY DAMM SELF. There are three sides that complete M.D.S. As is to everyone you have different things that drive you and different emotions or thoughts. M.D.S. has come to terms of these things that drive him and have manifested them into his on personal personas.
There’s Normacromical (The Business Shark) his style is more of a father or the grown individual that does the necessities of life while setting positive examples that you can prosper without compromising your dream. Chief Smoke Bo (Cannabis Lion) his style is laid back, witty, off the wall, thought provoking and sick. Then there Ant Rokz the young spirit that doesn’t care for rules boundaries or lines will say what he feels at any given time, not the type to care about it till it care about him.
M.D.S. influences range from what he always listened to Hip-Hop, Calypso, R&B, Reggae and Soul music. This collage of musical influences and with idols such as Redman, LL Cool J, Big Daddy Kane, KRS ONE, BIG and Busta Rhymes. He felt that he could be different staying himself. His personality differences led to numerous experiences that helped him hone his craft.
With song like the Beat Peddler’s produced “Ur Embrace” his ode to Hip-Hop, where the hook tells it straight forward “…Though you have no form or shape I still feel your embrace.” To the non-club, Club Banger “Aint Nuthin”, with the banging bass drops and party time feel, a good time is to be had with this single club to club. Hip-Hop is Unda Attack is a song for the artist that are not aware of today’s events and struggles. The world wants Hip-Hop’s head and M.D.S. says “I’ll be on the front line with mine”.
With two mix tapes (The Knock Up and The Water Burst), Dah Birth/New Life is the official Triple Eye Ent. Full length album, M.D.S. promises there is a cut on there for everyone and we mean everyone. No Gimmick is the Gimmick, No Image is the Image how can I say this more specific I’m MyDamm.
