My Darling Asleep was started in 2003 as an outgrowth of the student Irish Music Ensemble at University of Louisville School of Music. Newer members were added who brought their extensive experience from the world of traditional dance. The band has blossomed since then and has been named the "hottest new Celtic band in town" by the Louisville Music News. The Louisville Courier-Journal adds that MDA is one of the "Best Five Things" on St Patrick's Day (and the only band mentioned).
We are continuously searching for those traditional songs and tunes that may be obscure, eager to once again share those pieces with our listeners. Skilled arrangements elevate the tunes and offer surprises to our listeners. Just how does Bo Diddley meet Turloch O'Caroline? One of many wonders!
