Every so often, an individual comes along who exceeds your expectations. Someone who, upon that first listen, makes you feel privy to some well-kept secret. A name attached to a voice that unbeknownst to most, will come to be a constant. So as you run through each element that composes the story of Tempest Blaine keep in mind the words of Rich Harrison, who put it ever so succinctly, "Talent isn't always a pre-requisite for a superstar." Tempest, as you'll soon find out, is the exception to that rule. Tempest Kai Juli Anne Blaine (born November 3rd, 1993) is an American actress and singer. She made her debut in 2005 in the award winning short film Stop. While Tempest continues to expand her acting and modeling portfolio she has also launched her singing career. Tempest developed an interest in music early on, writing songs and learning to sing while still a preteen. Now, she is one of today’s up and coming artists. She’s the granddaughter of the legendary drummer Hal Blaine made famous by his hit sounds on hundreds of 'Wrecking Crew" tracks by The Beach Boys, Mamas and Papas, Simon and Garfunkel and many, many more. Her debut album, 2K N WHTEVR is due out in 2009.
Tempest was born in Maui, Hawaii and raised in Los Angeles. Some of Tempest's (non-music) favorites include xBox 360 play (she's loving Halo 3 and impatiently awaiting Call of Duty 5), dirt biking on her Honda CRF70, going to the movies, hanging with her 'girls', traveling with her family and shopping. Tempest has been home schooled since 7th grade only taking various advanced placement classes in her local public school.
When interviewed, Tempest can name many of her favorite places to shop and will gush over various trends. She is also a schooled dancer having won last years scholarship in dance from her high school. A prestigious honor awarded to only one student per year. Indeed, her name translates to "Graceful Goddess of the Stormy Seas". Her musical influences include her grandfathers 'crew', and her parents and siblings diverse tastes, among many others.
What attracts her to the musicians she enjoys is their use of raw emotion and musicality, which is what she says she strives to attain in her own music. Today, Tempest is a 15 year old artist who writes and performs under the name My Eleventh Fantasy and is currently recording her first album.
