MY ENEMY MIND
Brampton–based rock band, My Enemy Mind, is ready to do battle on Friday night at the Joint, basement bar of the Hive, downtown Kitchener.
With their cutthroat influences such as Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, the band, comprised of M.G. Jones, Dan Diver, Dale Tudor and Ian Douglas, meld a mesh of classic rock and modern metal.
“There’s a metal edge to it making the overall sound new and unique,” they explain, “Our songs are about life, sometimes the darker side of life, and our show is about hard rocking.”
Kicking the indie music scene in the ass, MEM has been after live performances, honing their on–stage chops and gig–swapping with bands across Southwestern Ontario. “It’s all about hooking up with other bands and sharing gigs. Networking is key.”
Since their debut in 2008, MEM have utilized their individual indie band experiences to successfully self–promote, landing live shows everywhere from Lee’s Palace to the Red Rooster.
“We know the indie scene is hard. It can be very hard to get gigs as an original indie band. We’ve been very lucky so far, treating them as ‘live rehearsals’ as we work on improving our live show.”
But with positive reviews spinning them in the right direction, MEM know they’ve got what it takes to get the audience involved and to take notice.
“So far,” they say, “it’s looking good.”

Bio
Are you tired of the same sound played by copycat bands? Where’s the groove, where’s the passion, where’s the Rock? My Enemy Mind is all about getting people into the rock, feeling the passion and dancing through the night. All this done with tight musicianship and talent that leaves everything they have on stage. The heavy danceable music was created to be inclusive and not for a selective audience.
My Enemy Mind (MEM) was originally intended as a hardcore metal band. In April of 2008 guitarist/songwriter M.G. Jones (Mike), formerly of Bentwind, Damn Nation and TNDN, began searching for the voice of his new project and found professionally trained singer/songwriter Dan Diver. Dan’s strong classic rock and soul sound has brought out Mike’s rock and blues roots mixed with his current heavy metal influence played on seven-string guitar. This created a thrilling mix of “Old School” rock and modern metal. Labels like “Riff Rock” and “Radio Rock” may apply but there’s a metal edge to it making the overall sound new and unique. The third writer in the group, bassist Dale Tudor (also formerly of Damn Nation, TNDN and 3Nothing), brings his own flavour and writing style to the mix incorporating his love for “The Beatles” and grunge music.
Relative and sensitive lyrics documenting today’s societal turmoil married to danceable rhythms attract a growing female audience, while the aggressive seven string metal guitar drives male: rockers, head bangers and metalheads; balls first, into the groove. The universal appeal and radio-friendly sound of My Enemy Mind will give everyone the desire to explore the darker side of life from the safety of their own ears.
