Bio

˜The Dark Days" is the latest release from My Evil Ex. Since their "Approval" EP the band have grown musically more confident and have created their own unique style - a hybrid of 70's Punk, 50's Jazz and 30's Delta Blues. My Evil Ex's sound has been described as "Punk goes to New Orleans" (Derek Leahy - Sofa Records)

My Evil Ex are constantly evolving their sound and not afraid to go against or outside current musical conventions (4-part harmonies, Sax, Piano, sound effects, sound bites) to be creative and innovate. This gives them a vital edge in a very bland musical world.

My Evil Ex enjoy playing as well as attending concerts regularly (surely the lifeblood of any good musician). Because of this, My Evil Ex are known and respected on the live music circuit for shows that are always relentless and energetic. My Evil Ex have played support to such diverse groups as Evan Dando, JJ72 and Vinny Peculiar (containing Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce of The Smiths) on their Irish tours, played the Cork date of the 2fm 2moro 2our, played the first heat of Murphys Live 2008 in Cork supporting Fight like Apes, and are the only band to play 5 consecutive years at the Freakscene Birthday Party (Ireland's longest running club night).

"We don't let fads or fashions decide how we make music. My Evil Ex play what we've always wanted to play - music that's passionate and original" - Dylan, My Evil Ex

"Intelligent lyrics, finely crafted songs and strong vocal and musical arrangements: My Evil Ex are a band to watch."
Colm O'Sullivan - Red FM. (RedFM.ie)

"They are tight and proficient and proceed to woo us with a full, well-paced set of intelligent indie-rock. The fact that this reviewer came away from their set without obvious comparisons is usually a good sign. He'll happily give My Evil Ex a second look in the future."
Tim Peacock - whisperinandhollerin.com

"My Evil Ex's most recent EP 'The Dark Days' and its launch gig have sent out very clear signals that this band needs to be taken seriously. They are no strangers to the Freakscene Birthday parties. It's hard not to book them; they just really know how to rock!"
Alan Fadd - Freakscene (www.freakscene.com)

˜My Evil Ex were an exciting addition to the Cork leg of the second 2fm 2moro 2our and we were thrilled to have them on board'
Helen Cullen - 2FM (www.rte.ie/2fm/2moro2our/1139062.html)

"Murphy's Live 2008 kicked off in An Brog, Cork to a capacity crowd.
The gig opened with local band My Evil Ex. Their short, punchy set was
as intense as it was theatrical. Lead singer Dylan Fitzgerald shouted
through a megaphone while the band churned a mix of blues, rock and
oddity." - Murphy's Live 2008
