My Favorite Pill

BandAmericanaPunk

Pioneers of the rocka-punka-funka-billy genre, My Favorite Pill blends punk, progressive, and rockabilly with iconoclasm, raucousness, and revolution. With a reputation for insanely charismatic stage presence and attention to songwriting, My Favorite Pill is, simply put, one hell of a show!

Biography

In early 2009, a new drug hit the streets. Jeremey, a brash, fearless singer-songwriter new to town met Ray, a Zen Master blazing astonishing trails with the bass guitar. When the two met Aaron, who brought thunder, lightning, and every other ass-kicking element there ever was, the magic was instant. My Favorite Pill (a name in homage to better living through pharmaceuticals) was born. Within weeks the trio was blowing audiences away with unique chord structures, passionate performances, and intense new sounds. The band was quickly booked in KC, St. Louis, and a host of other cities, honing a reputation for amazing rock shows. Even when booked in opening or middle slots, demands for encores became common. Indeed, My Favorite Pill can have intense side effects: during one show, an attending bridal shower got their groove on with a makeshift stripper pole. The sound that does all this? Fans and promoters have described the band as "the second coming of Neil Young and Crazy Horse," "Bob Dylan on freon," "rocka-punka-funka-billy," and "a neat, new Americana sound." It should also be known that, far from simply shilling rock 'n' roll badassery, My Favorite Pill has worked hard to earn an additional reputation: that of unparalleled professionalism. With a tireless work ethic, high energy, and unceasing new, unique material, My Favorite Pill is the drug of choice when it comes to new original music.

Lyrics

Hush

Written By: Jeremey Leo

This used to be
The land of the free
Now the home of the brave
Is in an awful state

They're watching what you do and watching what you say of hush
They're watching what you do and watching what you say oh hush

Don't speak out just hush

Mt. Rushmore sighed
Lady Liberty cried
'Cause it's been a long day
For the American way

They're watching what you do and watching what you say of hush
They're watching what you do and watching what you say oh hush

We used to ride off into the sunset
Those days are gone, gone
Gone with the wind
We did it again

Don't speak out just hush

You better give three cheers
For the man of the year
And if you speak your mind
You get vilified

They're watching what you do and watching what you say of hush
They're watching what you do and watching what you say oh hush

We used to ride off into the sunset
Those days are gone, gone
Gone with the wind
We did it again

We must speak don't hush
Hush
Hush
Hush

Cautionary Tale

Written By: Jeremey Leo

Fell to the whiles of flirtatious girls
Fell to the guile of worldly men
Spent a long while taking sand for pearls
Walked a million miles but I'm lost again

Life is hard when you hate yourself and you're sure, you're destined to fail
You fall apart but you won't get up 'cause you're sure your ship has set sail

And I am
A cautionary tale

Breathing in ashes from a smoldering past
Breathing in patches just to catch my breath
Taking all the lashes that I earned so fast
100 meter dashes as I race against death

As I look back and I wonder how it all becomes quite clear
Always had potential but it never worked out, it never will and that's my fear

And I am
A cautionary tale

Life is hard when you hate yourself and you're sure, you're destined to fail
You fall apart but you won't get up 'cause you're sure your ship has set sail

And I am
A cautionary tale

Serfs Up!

Written By: Jeremey Leo

Welfare for
The billionaire
While the working man
Doesn't have a prayer

Serfs up
Serfs up

Camera's in the sky
Keeping control
Of information flow
And on your very soul

Serfs up
Serfs up

This is the future we knew it would be
This is the future we knew it would be
This is the future we knew it would be

Don't lay down
Or cede your rights
The time has come
To stand and fight

Serfs up
Serfs up
Serfs up
Serfs up

Being Naive

Written By: Jeremey Leo

Well you have a point
I know what you meant
But it'll take more than
A good argument
Because I have a feeling and
I've seen the signs
Not giving up, no
Not this time

Because I believe
In miracles and dreams
I believe in Destiny
I believe
In taking time to breathe
I believe in being naive

Hope is a byline and
It's fading fast
Faith is a punch line
Always gets a laugh
Don't even try, boy
You'll only lose
Well I disagree with that
Point of view

Because I believe
In miracles and dreams
I believe in Destiny
I believe
In taking time to breathe
I believe in being naive

Don't push it away
Don't hold it back
Don't set aside
What's inside

Because I believe
In miracles and dreams
I believe in Destiny
I believe
In taking time to breathe
I believe in being naive

Because I believe
In miracles and dreams
I believe in Destiny
I believe
Like children on swings
I believe in being naive

Leave Me Like This

Written By: Jeremey Leo

Baby don't leave me like this
Don't be so cold
I know I've got potential
I know I've got soul
That's more important than brains
And it's more important than brawn
Baby don't leave me like this
Don't be moving on

And I
Try so hard
To be your man
Do everything I can
But you
Don't notice me
'Til I'm on my knees
Beggin' please

Baby don't leave me like this
Not in the pouring rain
That's just so worn out
It's just so cliche
It doesn't have to be here
It doesn't have to be at all
Baby don't leave me like this
Don't make me crawl

And I
Try so hard
To be your man
Do everything I can
But you
Don't notice me
'Til I'm on my knees
Beggin' please

Baby don't leave me like this
Don't just walk away
Don't leave a good love in tatters
Don't leave a good man who'll stay
I know that you can dish it out
But I know that I can take it
Baby don't leave me like this
Oh my heart don't break it

And I
Try so hard
To be your man
Do everything I can
But you
Don't notice me
'Til I'm on my knees
Beggin' please

Darker Shade of Blue

Written By: Jeremey Leo

If I took the words
Out of your mouth
You couldn't have
Much to say
You're selling hello
I'm feeling goodbye
I guess it's best
You were on your way

Truth be told
This is getting old
Truth be told
This is getting old

And so are you
Turn a darker shade of blue
Worn and faded too
Turn a darker shade of blue

I must accept a bitter fact
Because I was born
Someday I'll die
And if I'm good
I can be a god
And live on a star
Deep in the sky

Dust to dust
Lust to lust
Dust to dust
Lust to lust

Help me believe
And heal this heart on my sleeve
Please grant a reprieve
And heal this heart on my sleeve

Truth be told
This is getting old
Truth be told
This is getting old

And so are you
Turn a darker shade of blue
Worn and faded too
Turn a darker shade of blue
