Bio

Founded in 2006, the Zurich-based trio quickly gained the reputation of being an irresistible live band and stepped up from local phenomenon to international insider tip. The concerts of Betty Fischer, Thom Luz and Kusi Gerber are romantic declarations of war, complete with over-reverbed guitars, distorted bass, staggering drums and hymnical, multi-layered vocals – as melodic as 80s Swedish pop sensation Roxette and just as messy, droning and fucked up as The Jesus & Mary Chain.

In 2010, the band released their debut album in both Switzerland and Germany to plenty of media attention: „Our Love Will Cut Through Everything has the same implicitness as the debuts of Interpol or Death Cab for Cutie“, claimed the Süddeutsche Zeitung. Die Zeit added: „One of the best, if not the ultimate autumn record“, and German music magazine VISIONS featured the song “Lights Out” on the sampler of their November issue.
Subsequently, the band played more than 100 shows in Switzerland, Germany, France and Austria, including the prestigious festivals Popkomm Berlin, Reeperbahnfestival Hamburg, Printemps de Bourges, MaMA Paris, Bar en Trans Rennes, Paléo Festival Nyon and Gurten Festival Bern.

In October 2012, their follow-up album MIDNIGHT MIDNIGHT was released in Switzerland to rave reviews. According to the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, one of the most renowned Swiss newspapers, “MIDNIGHT MIDNIGHT packs the punch of two or three Amphetamine pills”.
For their sophomore record, MHBTCW handed mixing duties over to Los Angeles producer Michael Patterson (Trent Reznor, BRMC, Ladytron), while Reykjavik’s Valgeir Sigurðsson (Bedroom Community, Wildbirds & Peacedrums, Björk) was in charge of mastering.

MIDNIGHT MIDNIGHT is about the intermediate world that takes over when the clock strikes midnight, it is about dreams turning to nightmares, getaway cars, twilight, rare cloud constellations, beautiful scars, the year 1997, sex and the impending end of the world.

Currently, MHBTCW are touring all over Switzerland. They are also preparing the Europe-wide release of MIDNIGHT MIDNIGHT and the schedule of their forthcoming European tour.
