Bio

My Heroine are a five-piece all girl pop-rock band formed of classically trained musicians.

Tired of classical music training at Junior Guildhall and later Wells Cathedral School, Georgina Elman put down her viola and picked up an electric bass guitar. In her final year at the Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts she formed Kalorie, a band with an all girl line up with the desire to rock out to catchy tunes. The band did well, entering T4’s Unsigned competition ending up 13th.

Having graduated from LIPA, Georgina moved back to her hometown of Rayleigh, Essex, determined to reform the band. She knew Calie as a friend of her sister, both of whom were studying percussion at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Calie was soon on board, and auditions for guitarists began. Emma Harrop and Clare Williams were asked to join the band as rhythm and lead guitar, respectively. Clare studied cello at the Purcell School of Music, while Emma was a punk rocker to the core with a skill for penning catchy songs. The band practised hard and made their debut at the Good Ship, Kilburn in 2008.

In 2009 Bianka-Lei contacted Emma with the hope of auditioning to sing with the band. Having focused mainly on Soul and R&B for the preceding years, Bianka had initially sung with choirs and choral groups in and around London since a young age, and was not daunted by the prospect of taking on a rock band.

With Bianka on board, My Heroine was born.
