BIOGRAPHY
Mykah Montgomery has it together. She walks in the rays of God’s sunshine. She’s that sophisticated, spirited kind of fine that men can appreciate and women seek to emulate. She carries forward a family tradition of musical innovation. Hers is a voice at one with sweetness, sensuality, substance and soul.
The art of song comes naturally to Mykah. The granddaughter of renowned jazz pianist and vibraphonist Buddy Montgomery and grandniece of legendary jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery and bassist Monk has been singing since she could talk. The Montgomery bloodline is proof: Mykah has inherited a powerful legacy of rhythm and melody.
The lady’s instrument of choice is her voice, capable of reaching soprano heights while touching emotional depths. Blessed with the potential to redirect the sound of Adult Contemporary, R&B, NeoSoul, Jazz, and Pop, Mykah’s sound is a refreshing blend of tender vocal styling and future popular classics.
Mykah recorded an album with PolyGram / Mercury Records as one-third of the female group Emãge. In addition, she has recorded and or shared the stage with the likes of U2, Jamie Foxx, The Wailers, Ike Turner, Big Brother and the Holding Company, The Backstreet Boys, Brian McKnight, Tony Toni Tone, Narada Michael Walden, Najee, Jonathan Butler, Heavy D., Blacksheep, Jon B., Kindred the Family Soul, and Buddy Montgomery; to name a few. Mykah is now producing, writing, and arranging with focus and vigor as a soloist.
One of Mykah’s compositions, “Love Is Blind”, released in the UK, was a smash on the R&B charts, debuting at # 14 and peaking at #7 in just 2 ½ weeks after its release. “Love Is Blind” along with two additional songs performed by Mykah, “The Way You Love Me”, and “Dream With Me” were featured on the Simply Soul Flava’s Compilation CD vol. 1. Mykah also received great reviews for the club remix of her composition “Little Boy Blue”, released in Japan.
Mykah’s debut album "ME & U" is scheduled to be released Spring 2009.
