"This 'n' That"

This ‘n’ That: It was a pleasant surprise
to see The Mykal Gambull Band

Although the audience comprised of mostly government and industry types, Mykal did an amazing job of engaging the audience while playing covers and even a few originals in a classy setting. Gambull, as most of you know, is a do-it-yourselfer whose song ‘ForgetAbout You’ rose the charts and reached number one on MBC’s Aboriginal countdown - Eagle Feather News

Mykal Gambull Volume 1 is the title of the debut album. With this album Mykal wanted to show his diversity as an artist. Tracks on the album consist of Blues, Pop, Rock, R&B;, Soul, Funk and Gospel.

June 21st, 2008 had seen the official release of Mykal Gambull Volume 1, Mykals first and only studio album to date to the public. Volume 1 was released in advance to radio 6 months prior in January 2008. The album was a received with admiration through native radio in Canada. Recorded in Saskatoon over a 3 month period, the album contained two number singles. Forget About You, and R&B; tinged song of love and trust, was the first single released. The single quickly received airplay on Saskatchewans only native radio station, MBC Radio. It was long before the song was being requested which in turn led to the debut on the top 5 music charts. After 6 weeks of hanging on to the top spot the song finally crawled back down the chart. But it did not go slowly. The single remained for 5 more weeks. The second single, Im Your Man, entered the Aboriginal Top 30 Countdown on Winnipegs largest native radio broadcaster, NCI on March 5th, 2008 at number 29. From that point on it was a slow and steady climb as it ascended toward the number one position. A position that was held for 2 weeks. Im Your Man enjoy a 23 week stay on the NCI music chart.
